Just use Linux.
Using Ubuntu for 5 years, never used a virus program, never had a virus.
Don't need ad-aware or anything like that either.

I just use my computer and do the regular updates.

I don't use Windows IE. Perhaps I need not worry.
I have 2 independent antiviruses running at all times that play well with each other.
Everything that comes into my computer or out of it is scanned thoroughly.
I guess time will tell?
