Has anyone had any luck with the chain guards that come in our engine kits? Do they end up breaking? Please post all experiences with them? Thanks, Pat
Yes, I have luck with them...I have a 96% success rate at hitting the garbage can the first throw with them.
I modified one from an old J.C. Higgins bike. Turned it around and cut out a portion to clear the frame down bar. Looks good. mikes
Take those tabs off, and replace it with something a little thicker. To hold it on, drill out some holes, and use pop rivets.
i'm with Joe. the first bike i built, i looked at it, held it up to my bike, then threw it back in the box. now, i don't even take them out of the bag. i was saving them, in case i came up with something else to do with them, but i think i threw them all away by now. the chain is usually behind you anyway, so unless you wear bell bottoms or baggy ghetto pants, i wouldn't worry about not using it.
