Engine idle's high after ascending hill or wide open throttle

My engine idles fine both after starting and when fully warmed up. However I have noticed that after using the throttle wide open (be it going fast or ascending a hill), if I pull in the clutch, the engine will idle very fast (to the point where I have to fiddle with the idle screw to slow it down). After a while of putting around at a slow speed I will then have to set the idle screw back to what it was originally.

Is this a carb thing where maybe the carb barrel is sticking to the side walls after wide open throttle or is this just a typical carburetor side effect?

Most likely, you've got an air leak where the carb attaches to the manifold. I'd bet if you checked, it's not pushed all the way on, or, it's loose on the manifold.

Best of luck!

Also just quick question, should I worry about particles getting in between the carb and the manifold where the air leak was or is this worry petty?
