thanks guys. the cardboard windshield is just to see how it would look its more like armour... and the lamp is also just a mock up... but i definitely would love if it was real! lol and im definitely putting a 4 stroke engine on... im just waiting for money, i might have to sell my chopper for the money 8( ... and i would love different set of wheels but once again i need money! i still need to buy a tube for the rear wheel... its and odd size like 27 or something like that...

27 inch? like 27 X 1/4 or 3/8?

Great looking build. It's gonna look so cool finished. I would do full out and get an EZM kit. Have fun and take your time :)

I would love to but that is way out of my price range... After all im a senior in highschool and im going to night college... oh curtisfox what do you mean by "Maybe make the bottom out some kind of screen?" ???

I was just thinking if you used some kind of screen for the bottom it wouldn't be such a wind break. Something like stainless or like that inplace of the cardboard. Just my thought's ......Curt
I would may go to a recycling center and snoop or maybe a dump. I call it snoop & save

That doesn't look like too bad a kit for the price. The huasheng engines are very reliable, but the transmission may or may not be good, you'll have to see. When you get it just run the BEST synthetic oils money can buy. :)

I am thinking about switching the wheels for a pair of 26" cruiser wheels... what do i need to do to do this... is there going to be any trouble change them since the 26" are wider????

For one thing the brakes will not line up,unless you have enough ajustment. There were a lot of 27 inch bikes. I would think you could find another for the wheels
I am changing one to 26 but mine will be permenent so I will be redoing the brake mounts or shortening the frame out back,Haven't decided yet. Just on the back because I used a different fork on the front.

If you mean a fire extinguisher can, that would be heavy and possibly dangerous to open up or tap, and really hard to clean out.

Most of the engines used on bikes rely on gravity fed carburetors, but some of the rack-drive weeder type engines use feed and return lines and rely on engine vacuum. I don't know how long a hose will work with them, but I like the idea of mounting a tank cylinder on the downtube or maybe the rear rack.

You can find conventional industrial looking tanks/combination rear racks, that mount easily just like a cargo rack. They should work fine with the china kits. I think they are about $20-50 and can be painted to match. Lots of people are mounting ammo cans on the sides for storage.

re: cotter pinned crank arms hard to remove.

It's old technology, but the cranks are strong! You can remove them by removing the locknuts on the crankarms, and tapping (HARD) the pins out with a dead blow hammer and a punch.

You will need new pins though.

im thinking about painting the bike green, if i don't keep it the original color...an army theme would be nice... i had an idea about using an old/used fire hydrant as an gas tank and mounting it underneath... has this ever been done before on this forum???

I think your bike is cool. I like the windshield idea, but I don't know if your bike has enough motor to run it. Its inventive though! I am surprised there aren't widely available fairings for conventional bikes, similar to that, for motor bicycling. You can probably find one made for recumbents or tandems, but I bet it would be expensive and maybe fragile. Someone used a pocketbike windshield before on a mb, and the headlights were already mounted!

I am glad you found a cool bike in the trash. People throw away lots of cool stuff because, to them, its not worth the time to ride it, much less fix it!

If you are aiming for a low-buck build or a personalised ride, dumpster finds are great.

I got my Madwagon in the trash can. For what I saved on a bike or frame set, I got some really good wheels and a suspension seatpost.

You can also try shopping for bike parts at scrap yards, if they'll let you. Some people are really cool and might even give you some bike stuff, if you don't scatter things or interrupt their yard operations. Its only scrap metal to them, so they probably will sell anything you want for what is a cheap price compared to replacement parts esp if you have to pay shipping.

I was looking at your frame again and I don't why you can't change wheels I put 26 in my Raheigh and they fit fine. I think the tires are 1:95's I wanted a old style looking fork so I changed that and The rear brakes will have to be changed. They are under the seat and are to high now. One could just add a little more plate and drill a new mounting hole to move them down. My wheels were off a three speed bike.........Curt

The bike he's using has linkage brakes. The brakes do not "squeeze", they tug! The brakes are a fixed distance apart, and at a fixed angle. The original rims have quite an angle on the braking surfaces, compared to the flat or close-to-vertical modern bike rims.
