There are a-s-so many 212! He I, non hemi.
Cast iron flywheel, machined aluminum flywheels!
After reading the specs for each one the Briggs is the over-all choice , but at 1k!
The Ducson, Tollostin and factory predator are close in price.
Ghost hits that 6000 rpm and mid range in

Ducson 212

That 224 is no joke. Way better on torque than the 212. A 212 aluminum flywheel and 212 camshaft (since the original is plastic and doesn't hold up to rpm) you'll have a screamer

The CTV die castings used to break on a knit line A buddy of mine broke several on a 212 Predi. Huffy Classic build. It would cruise at 45 mph. And then the wheel hub bearing that he never repacked failed. He sported some nasty road rash for a month.

So, I am reading up on the various engines with the cast iron flywheel, riding over a “bomb”. Is this just in respect to the governor bypassing units?
A Kit like this should suffice Includes non restrictive coil set to .50

You say the 224 has good components? Camshaft and flywheel?
The cam is plastic in the 224 and tends to break with higher rpm. Iirc a 212 camshaft fits. The flywheel is just a safe guard and allows for more speed in the future. I recommend if you replace the camshaft and flywheel to punch out the governor gear rod and put a bolt in the case and properly bypass the governor.

I suppose opening up the motor and a good inspection couldn’t hurt. Also , in some incidents of loose nut on the flywheel from factory, like they know it’s gonna be changed!
Seriously, there’s mixed opinions on the cam, but a handful of bolts shouldn’t deter the cam swop
Makes me ponder the Ducar 212, it’s already aluminum flywheel and steel cam?
