Chain connecting link problem

Iam using a 415 chain and noticed the chain connecting link is rubbing the inside
of the gear housing. The link connecter that slides on is on the inside of chain. The
instructions say to install chain so master link connection runs on the inboard side of drive.
Do I have it on the wrong side?

inboard means toward engine (top of drive loop)
closed end of clip on left, facing engine

Also ya want to set the master clip to where any thing that touches it that can drag on it will not unclip it. Closed end of the removable clip need to face the potential obstacles that can drag on it. This in turn just keeps it on.

does this look like to much angle on the chain tension device,...?
I felt one more like and the chain would have been to tight,..
and taking out 1 link 2 many kind blows I'm sure,...
this is my first bike,... had fun building it, getting ready for the first run,...
any suggestions,...?

If you got the rear sprocket running true no side to side and no up and down wobbling then you should be good to go.

the chain tentioner serves 2 functions......
keeping the chain slack correct, and....
providing a directional influnce going onto the rear sprocket. your setting is too close to the rear wheel, in my opinion, not enough distance to do an alignment correction. about middle between tire and sprocket is good.

if your chain keeps comming off "to the inside" move the tention wheel bracket to the outside, and visa versa. try about 1/4" move at a time.

this is what i do with all my customers tentioners.....no more chains on the road lol

Good luck with the chain tensioner....
Personally I will never, ever use this type of tensioner.
It's a bad day waiting to happen.
