Hello all. I am a total newbie but would like to see if I can get an answer on this bike. This is a friends great great grandfather and I am trying to help him find out who made the bike. This pic was taken in 1909 in Upstate NY and the bike was used as a postal delivery bike. Can someone help with the ID? Thanks for all responses and help.

    trailhopper- Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry I can't help you identify the bike, but I'm interested to know what it is. Cool picture, I'll follow along.

There are many knowledgeable members here who will be able to help you, I'm sure.

    Good luck!

Thanks Trey. My buddy has in his head that he thinks it was a Montgomery bike? Not sure about that since they were made overseas (not easy to ship a bike in 1909ish) and also Montgomery didn't start producing bikes til 1913 from what I read.

Also just to add the tank has a faint name on it and maybe that is the manufacturer or maybe it says Postman.....who knows.
