I’m converting a rear wheel to a front wheel. Problem is my axle is too short now. Not a whole lot of meat left after the truss rods get mounted and I still need to add the fenders and disk brake hanger.
I did some research and I’m thinking maybe I can use some threaded rod from the hardware store. I think it’s been done before. I saw a guy on a motorcycle forum said he did it. Is it strong enough to be a front axle?

Get the cro-molly; the threaded rod is a bent axle waiting to happen.

The fork has a small dropout (is that the correct word?) a normal modern axle seems to be too large.
