E-bikes and sales in the North American market boosted full-year revenue for Accell Group N.V. The Dutch holding company, which owns Seattle Bike Supply, Raleigh, Diamondback, Currie Technologies and an array of European bike brands, posted a 10 percent increase in 2013 revenue, which totaled $1.1 billion

Sales of e-bikes grew 23 percent and made up 35 percent of Accell's total bike sales last year.

As battery prices drop, electric bikes and other EV's are gonna explode in popularity. There is no doubt about that.

Yeah, no doubt, as of now the batteries cost more than the kit, a good reason the batteries are not included, they just would not sell well if they were included.
People are like me I guess, 'Oh, I will buy the battery later'.

I hope prices fall by this summer, and not fall.

Prices are getting more competitive. This bike is low end, but has very good specs.

$699 shipped. 300w is good for 20 mph. Disk brakes front and rear, 7 speed pedal gears, throttle, or pedal assist. 15-20 mile range, Lithium Battery's.

You could probably add an axillary battery to extend the range. The rest of the bike is good to go as is

Im super happy with my 2 stroke but at the elevation I live it just sucks the power out of any gas motor thus electric makes so much more sense. Right now the only reason Im keeping a 2 stroke is my riding buddy likes them better than electrics so I will keep one around for social reasons lol. In the near future I'll probably be putting my 2 stroke project motors and pieces up for sale.

Monday I stopped by a locally owned bike shop that carries E-bikes and it was nice to see such a good selection for a town that doesn't enjoy a lot of riding weather.

I asked the owner of the shop some questions about past sales and anticipated sales and this year looks very optimistic for him. This shop has been operating since 1995 first as a bike shop then a scooter store and now electrics.

Point is if a place like Casper Wy is seeing E-bike growth I'd venture to say the rest of the country is booming in sales.

Dallas's first ever dedicated eBike shop is having their grand opening Saturday.


Knowing what I know now after buying a Bomber electric bicycle, makes this bike look even better than I thought before. Anyone that's not me, will be very tempted by a $4000 price tag for this bike. I think that's very fair all things considered.

I think his bike compares very well to a china girl. A china girl will cost a minimum of $800- 1000 not counting labor to build it. China girls age quickly are from vibration, and require a lot of maintenance, and repairs.

This eBike would probably be considered almost maintenance free in comparison, and last a lifetime.

The china girl will have more range, but the eBike will have a lot more power.

The stromer is indeed a nice bike that actually looks like a bike. There is one Ebike store Houston which carries a variety of ebikes. But no monster like the Stealth though.

I'm waiting for the Adaptto controller to become available. Super quiet sinewave controller, with build in BMS and charging capability. With this I can than just get a box of A123 20ah cells and built me a nice pack that will last for years to come. The controller does come with warranty. And if don't care for a warranty you can unlock the controller for even more power if you so desire. This controller will change the high powered ebikes in the near future.

Just announced today, Tesla is opening a store in Dallas at North Park mall. This Saturday Dallas's first eBike shop is opening. This is probably going to be a big year for electric vehicles.

I got a feeling that soon there's going to be a stampede trying to get in on the E phenomena.

I think what's happening is we keep saying stuff like when the cost of battery's come down, when the range gets better, bla bla bla.

What most people don't realize is that right now, electric bicycles already have the range and speed an electric bicycle needs, and prices are coming down.

We have a bad economy. In a bad economy people won't spend money unless they're buying quality. The new eBikes are the best they've ever been.

This bike has 27 mph speed and claims 93 mile range, for $4000. That's about as fast as any electric bicycle needs to be. I'm sure the prices will come down. No insurance, no registration, no license. Gas prices are rising.

At the speeds this bike goes I think 40 to 50 miles is reasonable. That's enough for most people. Average speed will probably only be around 18 mph, but that's very fast for a bicycle.

Tesla has a store here in Houston as well. Nice friendly staff that can answer all your questions. You got to go check it out when it opens. The cars are nice, the power train is super simple and the battery pack is cool too, kinda like the Nissan leaf.

This vid says the battery is 11 ah and there's a 14.5 ah option. The ST1 is advertised online for reasonable $3550, and the top of the line Platinum is $4250. I think the Platinum comes stock with the 14.5 ah.

The video says 20-25 miles range. Their website say up to 150km (93 miles). That's quite a discrepancy there. Which one is it? LOL

Riding at the same speed, probably about 128,000 miles lol.

Stromer mentions 3 power levels. The 20 to 25 mile range is probably on high power going fast.

I'm gonna guess the 93 mile range they mention is at walking speed with no rider sitting on it?

They need to make the top tube identical to the down tube, holding another battery.
