Thanks

The kickstarter did come today.. Got it most of the way installed..Still have to mount the little center pinion cover.. And hook the return spring up..I had to make my own shaft and mounting plate.. Looks like it is going to work great..Thanks

Well got it out and took it for around a ten minute ride up and down the block.. I am more than thrilled with the way it works..It is almost scary fast..Has take off torque that is very nice, and great power throughout.. I am guessing I only pushed to around 30MPH on the test..And it have plenty to go..

Looking forward to finishing up some stuff this week..

Thanks

A simplex servi cycle is one bike I really want to build with a briggs flat head. I've always been fascinated with the floorboards and the briggs flathead is one of my all-time favorite engines (aside from the Chrysler leaning tower of power, but that wouldn't fit). One of these days I'll get my hands on one and build a commuter out of it with a high output Briggs flathead.

Rode it around again this eve for about 45 minutes..Kinda addicting to ride..Too bad Winter is coming soon..

I have the decal for the side cover on and the tank and the cover clear coated..Kick Start from Wayne is all done too...

Next thing is the foot boards..They should arrive this week..Will be nice to have those on..Once those are on, I can do the rear brake pedal and linkage..

Hope you run across a servi cycle..This project has been alot of fun..I get frustrated occasionally. But I always know in the end things workout if you stick with it..

I really like the kick start of your Safeticycle. There is a thing I have known since I was a teenager called Harley CH kickstarter charley horse.
Especially if one forgot to retard the spark. Harley kickstarts have a one way thrust engagement in the transmission called a starter clutch.
I assume that if the engine catches one must be well clear of the kick lever as it returns home. You have a stellar build Carbine.

Thanks very much for the compliment.

I am not real sure what would happen if the engine backfired the other way..But in this design, I think the ratchet on the kick starter may just disengage the pinion. It is actually a very simple but pretty clever design how it works.. I know all about those nasty kickbacks from my dirt bikes in the past..Even my 77 Bultaco I had as a kid, and still have..Does that occasionally..I can hardly muster the strength to start that one anymore. Age you know.LOL. Pretty easy if it was already started for the day..But if it sits for a while it can be a bear..
