1000 count pellet cans are the same as the large Kiwi cans. The Kiwi cans were for the gas mask canisters. I saw one set up that started with a leather mask and the riveted on canning jar rings and hot glued in colored plastic panels for the glass. That was for goggles, but the canning jar rings could also be used for the gas mask cannisters. Or build up craft foam and glue and paint in place on a craft foam mask.

I looked on eBay and found various leather masks, some would be easy to steampunk into a gas mask looking with a set of goggles. Look up cosplay costume masks, you will get lots of ideas if you dig deep enough,

Good ideas on diy projects!
Yep if you dig deep enough into cosplay you’ll find all kinds of stuff

My Carbide light is sitting at Post office. Which has been closed for 2 days due to 40 below temperatures .

-40? And I thought it was cold here in Rubicon, WI -27.
I mean my diesel Chevy has been a no go since last Friday. Don't know about you Keith but we got trouble coming. Feb.2 thru 4 they are calling for rain on sub zero ground. Going to get nasty of Biblical proportions with ice.
As soon as able please post photos of your vintage carbide head lamp.

It hit that low for a hour oo so nothing steady . But -20 has been the average with wind. Kids been to school 1;2 day out of 11 days..lolzpt
When I was a kid we didn't have snow days or cold days because our parents didn't either. (Caveat) My folks were from Ontario, Wi and farmers. I clearly remember a Christmas Eve AM to help my Grandpa milk the cows, milk cart before the barn door, steam rising from the wash bucket. Steam rose to the peak of the barn and settled back like snow.

Was going to ring in on you Curt as you are up by Frostbite Falls
Ya! Kids been out of school for 3 days temps been down there for 3 days, yesterday high was a -18

Dogcatcher it only hurts for a little while, but don't mind. Have a heated workshop, big TV and computer, just can't wear shorts this time of the year. LOL.

I just thank god it's not like it was 30 years ago when it was really cold, for a couple months, suppose to get 30+ by saturday, then snow again...................Curt

The Polar Vortex is gone ! Now back to bikes! It’s here my carbide light. It is in great shape and read to be ..cleaned and polished up. It has a perfect patina but I’m not going for a patina look so gotta clean her up.
I’m very impatient and have a bad habit of buying (small stuff) items to fit other, before I have the main piece in my hand. This time it worked out, I need to replace the mount. Because of tank and no stem the original won’t work. Hmm photos won’t load?

Happy Ground Hog Day to you Rick, these carbide bicycle/motorcycle lamps amaze me. Is there any documentation describing the need for the lamps to indicate Port and Starboard?
Keith, is your last photo illustrating your adaptive mount with the original hanging on your pinky?

Yep that’s the original mount part on my pinky. Gotta shop around for these lights on eBay you can get a great deal. If glass is broken it’s a cheap simple fix. Dents and cracks are what you need to loo out for.
I may slide a led inside for reliability and yes safety. I will have a small 12v battery in the tool box for front and rear lights.

None I've encountered, Tom.

The led setup is the way to go & least intrusive solution to using these old antiquities. Though my preference is for the smaller size lamps I've not seen any that didn't complement a vintage style bike, regardless the size.
