This is a West Coast Choppers bike that I picked up real cheap at the Long Beach swap meet... It's perfect for me because I wanted to build a 'rat rod'!

I decided to go the easy route & install a 2-stroke.

I had to install two larger pedalling sprockets for the chain to clear the engine's gear box...

caswell tank sealer is supposed to work on plastic if you go that route.

btw. found me a 24" speedster frame today... :)
 
I like mine more the longer I have it. Rode it a few miles today and it sure gets a lot of attention!



I have not seen one with the motor mounted as low as yours...looking good!
 
i paid 40 for the frame fork and cranks from a guy down the street. :) i's a 1975 model.

what size wheel is the front? a taller one would give it that old school chopper look.
 
I tried a taller front rim on mine and didn't like it. Made the bike ride (more) squirrely...
 
Nice build, has me thinking!

Tomorrow I'm picking up a Wcc bike for a few bucks and really only want the fork for my Dyno, will a standard 26 wheel fit that fork? I suppose it would....

Here's a little update... We got it running today.
We installed a prototype VMB high compression head & a Arrow reed valve... Tomorrow I'll try to get it tuned & finish the front brake.

The 'kit tank' is only temporary until the WCC tank is finished.

We also ditched the original motor mounts for another set with some offset for the chain to clear the fat WCC rear tire.

I think this bike might keep the loud 'straight pipe'! ;)

Here's a few pix I took of the bike today... I re-jetted the carb & welded on the front disc brake.

It was GPS'd with a max speed of 34mph.

Hey,
that really looks great!

one thing i do notice about these bikes is that forks take a pounding, they are a long lever and the frame is quite rigid, so the forks tend to bend at the lower holder

the extra stress of an engine and higher speeds will contribute to this i assume

on chopper bicycles i have built i have added a "truss" of sorts- but care in riding will go a long way to keeping the forks straight

i love your motor mounts!
 
I finished the WCC tank today... I used a KW Machine- Felt filler cap.

I think it turned out pretty sweet!

The next task is building a custom expansion chamber.

I like it! And I don't like choppers and would never even think about riding one.

That frame is strong. I guess that's why I like it - :)
 
Dayum that chopper looks nice! I have always liked the looks of the Saint Louis style choppers; Having a long fork without the front wheel being in the next zip code. They also have better handling characteristics as a side effect.
Ya done awesome!
