From 26" to 29"

Well I finished another Huffy coaster Brake bike. This one a Cranbrook.
I am looking forward to my winter project for this year. I picked up a 29" Genisis Onyx good as new for a really good price at yet another yard sale! From what I been looking at for parts, front ends and wheels - I think it gonna be very expensive. I love the longer wheel base and lower seat capabilty with it. 48 spokes wow. OK. I started buying parts in Aug for the 29" Onyx. This will replace my #1 as the daily rider next season. If I'm a good boy I'll receive the Big Tank from Dax sometime around Christmas. I need to weld in my bar ends today as to assemble all controls. Aluminum frame bike. I sent all cables and electrics from kill switch "In Frame" through grommets of course. also located the C.D.I. way low in crank crotch. What do ya think?

Thanks Curt! The Exhaust is Thruster II from Bike Berry. On their site they do a performance comparison with this and others they sell. This one came out on top although is also the loudest. I waited almost 4 months It was back ordered. I emailed them every week to remind them I was still waiting. I was the first in line when finally they received them. I can tell you from my experience... I tried a couple 29 builds just this past season and the difference between a 26 and 29 is very noticable in the handling and stability aspects of the bikes. longer wheelbase, bigger wheels it all adds up to a very nice ride. I did a 48T sprocket so I should have great Hill climbing ability. I @ 155lbs 5'7". Seat post cut down 1" Fits me like no other. No Disc Hub avail. for a 48 spoke wheel. Had to do a 36 spk in front (mis match) that's ok I guess. No Option. I really like the kickstand. Dual Leg Both legs fold to the left.

It's ready for first ride. Early April I'll squirt some oil in it and take it out. I can answer questions about this build. 29 Onyx single speed coaster brake. Both Chains seem very happy after a quick rear pedal sprocket change to the larger 19t. I uploaded a bunch of pics to a new album. "Genesis Onyx 29" I'm pleased with its completion. New Builders- I hope you take a look and ask questions. Don't be shy about it. If I can help ... I will

1.is there a hub mount for the rear sprocket available? Yes. standard coaster brake adapter will fit.
2) is there a solid hub mount for front and rear disc brakes? I use the coaster Brake on Rear- Simple and effective. I could not use the 48 spoke front wheel which came on the bike. I could not find a Disc Hub anywhere with 48 spoke holes. I purchased a 36 spoke wheel with a disc hub laced in (around $50) so my wheels are a mismatch.
3) does the throttle control mount on the Onex handlebar? NO! The Onyx uses a 1"Bar 1"Swell @ the center. You will need 7/8" bar ends for your kit controls to fit. I ended up replacing them with a more common 7/8" Bars with a 1" center swell.
4) opinions on the dual cable single lever brake ? Yes! I have used them on multi speed bikes in the past and thought they were great.
5) based on some reviews, I was looking at the Iglobalbuy 80cc. (I know...66 & 80 are the same). They state that it only fits 26 & 28 Inch bikes. 2nd choice is the BBR Silver Angle in black. This is just from reading reviews. Any experienced alternatives options are welcome.
Both of these will fit onto your 29" onyx. You will need a Large mounting plate with 2" U bolts for your engine to bolt to. Find it here.

6) lastly (for now) is a pull start option worthwhile ? Typically a pull start is not necessary unless the kit is used in conjunction with a centrifugal clutch.

Welcome to the forum Dennis! I can advise you to take your time build it safe. I can also tell you, I am 58 yrs old and I havn't had so much fun on a bike since I was 8.
