Graphite in the powdered form (Lock Ease) I use on the brake and throttle cable. Take a teaspoon full in a rag and pull the cable through it squeezing the rag coating all the length. Makes a mess, so maybe some gloves worn helps. Back in the cable cover work the best, and no a problem with frozen lubricants in cold weather and stuck cables. I nearly covered my chain to keep out dirt, but splashing through small streams will get through cover. I have used the Liquid Wrench Brand Motorcycle Chain Lube. Be careful the penetrating fluid spray can of the same make looks much the same! The last part of the drive is the v-belt and water causes issues for a little while before it drys off.
There must be a battle on YouTube, fellas using wax on chains and fellas using dry graphite on chains!
I think bothideas are good but I didn't like one fellas idea of using just graphite (dry) in a baggie shook up with a chain to lubricate
it. That idea might-or-not get in the rollers to lubricate them. The best way would be to soak the chain in the EZ-Slide
gallon of it and then hung out to dry. Powdered Teflon and graphite probably be a good candidate. The cheapest is
candle wax for the chain. There's a company in Wisconsin that sells a jar of wax beads that can be melted in a crockpot.
Interestingly, it looks dark gray in color? I thought I saved the name of the product and even had links to it so I'll have to
dig around to see if I can find it to do more research on. I'm going to test this stuff on the chain to see whether it works.
I do know it works on the CVT and helps lubricate it.

Hey Tom, "Marvel Mystery Oil" has been around longer than you and I combined and it's amazing it is still on
the market! There's a fella on YouTube that tests all kinds of fuel additives, oils and just a real assortment of
products. He's not a crackpot and has real good tests on the products you can check him out by searching
"Project Farm" He also abuses engines with or without a product added in his test!

PS forgot about Teflon Dry Lube... It goes on wet and end up like a wax. There is Tri Flo and Finish Line brands. Very strong odor from the Tri Flo, but again maybe wear gloves. I even saw a spray of this stuff that foams to get better penetration for ball bearing and chain. Though I think non-sealed bearing should avoid these and just repack with grease. The bearings on my jackshaft are sealed so I just replace them.

Used two chains, just replaced one, both 415H chain that came with the 2 stroke 66cc motor kit on my Grubee 5 hp over seven years and well over14,000 plus miles. Never broke a chain, though I lost a clip after I installed one ask-backards. The second one I installed last week and only because the old one was 20 links too short (my guess) to reach the new extended axle position and it's also a kit 415H with quick link, So my two heavy duty chain breaks are almost unused though both manage to push 420 pins (for my big engine) without grinding. Big chains for big motors or little motors that are misaligned, poorly maintained and don't run spring tensioner!

Tom I'm glad the mod continues and know the results will be well worth the effort. Fenders done right aren't easy...especially on classic style suspension forks.

Shame shame Rick, installing the clip backwards!
Been there and done that but never lost the link, just lucky I guess that'sone thing I double check. I'll stay with the #41 on the big motor since I don't like re-adjusting the chain-idler to compensate for
the stretch and pulling hard on the 20-tooth sprocket test caused the CVT belt to slip which should have broke the chain. I might
add, "212's are made to break things!"

Darn, I'm between checks and need to try that stuff to see how well it works! I've had so many outside distractions lately and need
to get some mileage on the bike to further test things. I'm still wondering if that 20-tooth might work with the new belt which is not
like the original one I tried the first test on? The newer belt is stiff and tight and it might not give the same problem? Putting power
on that original belt gave a pronounced slip in it! The belt is a Chinese made belt and I'd bet it is a cheaper grade of material
and might be the problem? The belt can't be loose like it is when it's installed and the new belt is tight on the bronze bushing.
That's another part I need to get on order is a replacement bushing for the CVT since the belt runs against it when the engine
is at idle. When rpm increases, the belt leave the busing and is against the drive shieves. Imagine what the 420cc engine does
with the bigger 1" shaft on the Comet CVT!
I wanted to ride a few mile this PM but now we have high winds and had other things to take care of. BTY, the GPS speedometer
is working good and is easy to read in direct sunlight since the numbers are large BUT. the difference is, it's GPS the update is
slower than an old analog readout and at least it reads higher than 60 Km!

Got the front fender struts measured, cut, the ends flattened, center punched, and drilled for the mounting screws.
Still have to contour the ends on my 1"x42" Kalamazoo belt sander. Wednesday the rear struts will be the focus of my after work labor.
Rick, The fenders on this Flyer have been the longest lasting challenge though mostly self inflicted. I may have to order studded tires from Finland to get riding time in 2019

I'm sure you'll get things worked out. This rain in the area is slowing down the farmers and worse yet for me, making the
grass grow which means I have to work in the yard. I also got the garden to get going on before the weather changes.
I've got two window air conditioners to get out of the windows and storm windows put back up. I'm sure you're getting
some of this rain up your way. During the middle of the month there is suppose to be a frost so that will enable me to
get things done. The Landlord's Son has started on beans and they are testing 16% moisture he hasn't said what kind
of yield he's getting. The crops in the area don't look good and the prices aren't where they should be for the farmers.

Weather here is still Vancouverish ie, wet. The low lands here are flooded from last nights dumper (The rain gage topped out) and the rain started after I got home from work today so I just greeted the wife, walked the dog, grabbed a beer, and went to the shop to finish this fender strut job. Front strut ends rounded and bolted to the fork fender mount clamps, Rear struts went a little faster knowing the routine and it only took one more beer.
All is good but the rear struts are contacting the steerer fork legs so I will have to make some offsets to clear them.
Rain Thursday, I am on vacation Friday no rain = mow.

Looking good and I'm sure you'll get it worked out. We have rain moving in and I am hoping next week it will be clear
since everyone has a lot of things to get done outside. The news on the radio has been saying it's bleak for the farmers
since they can't get their crops in and a lot of combines are sitting waiting to get in the fields.

Curtis, I came across a heavy duty chain breaker the other night online which was made for the 415, 41 and 420 chain.
I'll have to back track and see if I can find the add and let you guys look at it.
