been working on my first build seems like forever had problem with ragjoint finally got everyrhing right so i thought and cant afford a spring chain tentioner right now but went to start my bike a the tentioner i have is tightened as tight as i can get it twisted shot straight towards my spokes! any advice? thanks guys

Dang Dave you've had some bad luck, I've never had a problem with mine. Have you tried moving it forward or backward to find a better fit? It all depends on the frame tube size and shape, one inch either way may do it.
You may have to bend the tensioner slightly to make the chain run true, don't over tighten the chain, about 1/2-3/4" lift on the top run will do.
Yeah Greg like I said I tightened it as tight as I could and the chain was straight but twisted right when I started it but yeah chain was probably to tight!thanks for advice I appreciate it
The spring loaded tensioner i found is bullshit,i just went through my phase with the spring and man that chain would bind up at the drive sprocket because of the spring......so what i did ro stop that problem is got rid of the spring and added a small turn buckle .....so the tensioner is stationary, oh and i got some cheap ass skate board wheel for the pully and i tell you what skateboard wheels should stay with skating, other word they're too bulky and too soft and so i made my own with 2 large washers and 2 skateberings sandwhiched in between i'l show some pictures you can barley see the tensoner but you can see the turnbuckle

I've tried without the tensioner for a while but the sprockets that i baught are not round every one of them is ofset just a little and the chain kept poping off with out the tensonee now all that action happened when i WAS using spoked rims and spokes bend from the torque of the motor pulling mainly from starting the bike the sudden high torque applied to the back rim .....so i use the tensioner but no spring a turnbuckle instead and it is adjustable .....so far soooooo good on my drive train,ill try to post abetter picture..... wait one..... over
Last i got mags so the spoke episodes are put to rest for now and .........update i got the alu pull starter i polished and mounted it this morning works great less strain starting no pedaling required until takeoff its a little hard on the clutch from stop but the taller sprocket helps big im on the 48tooth now but the 56t has no problem pulling out of the hole even with a loaded trailre and all this i with the tensoner gotta have it.....
