I've had several gas motorized bikes before. For this build, my budget is 2-3 thousand dollars -- all my other builds were under a thousand. My priorities, in order: 1) reliability, 2) speed, 3) comfort.

With those considerations and budget in mind, I'd be interested to hear suggestions for which bike/powerplant/accessories to use.

Kinda defeats the pride in building your own, but man, that's a nice bike!! Even more so for the price!

Pride in building?

Lol.

That wouldn't stop me from buying this gem.

Sadly, there were too many ifs.

If only I didn't live so far away.
If only I could see the bike in person.
If only the bike had a shift kit.
If only the bike wasn't so loud.
If only I didn't have other projects.

Yep. I certainly know what you mean. "If only" seems to be the main obstacle in my life.

Buy this bike:

This is the same bike:

Even if it costs $200 to ship, you're $1400 ahead.

A bike like this might cost $3,000+ to duplicate.

With a Morini engine, it must be fast and reliable, like 50mph+.

No, I do not know the seller.

I was VERY tempted to buy it.

Thats a nice bike but sports a motor with no parts support and a very hi reving small power band ride. A must skip unless you want a wall display.

Go four stroke mid size 160cc for your bike, with that budget you could build or have someone build you a really nice bike.

Check with some of the major builders on this forum like Jeff and Norm. They may something for sale and you could be sure of a top notch bike. Of course it's more fun to build your own, but it takes a lot of builds to get the quality, reliability and beauty of theirs.

For that kind of money I rather just buy an actual moped since they started shipping to the U.S. again. You can get a new moped, Tomos Racing TT for $2200, upgrade the exhaust 40+ mph, or get the Tomos sprint for $1700 and upgrade it.

With the budget you mention you can build a great bike using what ever power source that pleases you. Or just buy one of the really well built bikes offered by our forum vendors. Either way you end up with a unique hand built motobike rather than a "saw one of those 20 times yesterday" mopeds.
I prefer to build, but understand those who don't for whatever reason. I'm intrigued that you have been building motobikes for under a thousand...kinda makes me think you are in the builder category & hooked on bikes. Rick C.
