aluminum and steel frames

aluminum is lighter than steel, so does that mean you have to compensate in wall thickness to make the bike sturdy enough to ride, like for example in the gt2a frame.

What is the wall thickness on the gt2a frrame.

and in a felt steel frame what is the wall thickness?

Im thinking about trying to make a frame

Frame manufacturers can be very secretive about wall thickness. There are some bicycle forums out there with a lot of info on frame building. It is much easier to overheat and ruin the thin wall tubing while welding.
Better to start with steel like Culver said.

There are some great threads on jigs, Josh. Are ya thinking that route?

Been wanting to do a DIY frame as well.
