Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.

I am starting a myspace group here in Omaha, NE pertaining to Alternative Transportation. The group is called the OATF- Omaha Alternative Transportation Front. I've recently got the bike all together and worked most of the kinks out of it. I had to scrap the stock fuel tank and line for a rear panier mounted lawn mower tank, fuel rated line, nice pepcaulk and fuel filter. All in all its a decent ride. I did have to build a carb bowl heater for cold weather starts here, but that is another story in itself.

Anyway if anyone is interested in starting a group up here in omaha let me know. =')

I would like one of those bowl warmers for my oatmeal in the morning, it cools off too quick:) We used to have the heated dip sticks and always had to cover the windshield at night in West Virginia. I lived when I first got married out in the country and we did not have outlets where I could reach and many a time I built a fire under my Jeep to get it started. Wonder I did not burn it down.

Actually it was fairly easy to make just some speaker coils a verister one 9v battery and a connector, i was thinking it may be nice to build i micro remote warmer for the setup.

Actually that was the first thing i built for the bike, but some crackhead riped it out along with the origional fuel line. I don't know why they would have done such a thing maybe they needed the line to build a improvised crank smoking device? oh well, guess the next thing to build with it would be a taser unit hooked to a current drop circuit simular to those touch controlled lamp units to give would be theifs a little jolt. =') On the other hand i dont think i really could afford a good defence lawyer incase the little bastard were to sue me over "emotional scaring". Maybe the best bet would be to build a motion sensing stealth alarm discised as birdhouse in the tree i usually secure it to at my apartment complex. ;')

The question i would like to ask you all is what do you guys do to secure your toys?
 
If you don't have a garage why not a big, big chain and padlock? Run it through the frame and wheels then lock it to something immovable like a balcony railing or sign post.
Master Lock has a bicycle lock that looks like a set of old leg irons. It uses a chain that looks like bike chain but is about two inches thick. This lock is pricy but supposed to be secure.
Some guys have built a bicycle sized shed to house their bikes but you'd need approval of the apartment owner/manager for that. Good luck.

lol thats practically what i have, the problem is the thieves i guess are pissed off it's not a easy theft and are taking it out by taking parts off the moped. I also remember when i was using a traditional bicycle about a year ago i had someone come up and steal the sensor for my bike computer right infront of my bank.
 
Sad. Folks just have to touch or break stuff. Wile having lunch at last yrs EC rally some one twisted my throttle to the point of breaking the kill switch.

As part of an alarm, I want to use a solar powered, motion detecting spot light. Is a lil big and ugly though. Any time some one steps infront of the light it would go on. I don't think it would be hard to wire a horn to it. The small solar head light I tried is just bright enough to be seen but not enough to see a pot hole at night with any back light.

I really like sliding cable locks. Can put 2 together if needed and gives ya a tight run.

i Worry about using one of those sliding locks and how it may be easily be sercumvented.
 
1977 I had the apt. manager asign me a "parking" place at the complex. I bought steel and made a cage for my bike (s). 1234.53 cents. welded can't rip me off cage. Bolted to the ground, Asphalt, and all was well. The city came and fined me for "building" without a permit. Just keep your bike inside, it's much cheaper. rotfl

for Hiker472 here are some newer up 2 date pictures of my ride, including my moded Carberator air filter, redone second engine with a good ole USA recast bored out cylinder (with sleve) new piston(with added mig welding cap machined down for experimental hemmi effect), and shwin reproduction stingray ape hanger's. next project will be purchasing and installing this disc break kit Brakes

and next but not least Dan will be a 12v 1000 candle power head lamp and air horn hack from oreilys autoparts, the funest part will be figuring out the charging electronics as well as were i am going to put the battery bank/casing.

i keep my bike in my livingroom,the theives cant get to it there.

1 18v cordless power tool battery and 2 12v car lights in series
 
There's A Device Used On Steering Wheels That Has A Remote To Arm And Disarm Like A Car Alarm That Runs On Batteries Alone. It Works Off Vibration, Which I'm Sure Can Be Adjusted For Sensitivity. I Think Its 118 Decibels Which Is Loud Enough To Cut Down On The Crackhead Problem. You Can Get Them From Cheaper Than Dirt I Believe. I Will Look For It For You Cause Now That I Think Of It I Wouldn't Mind Getting One. If Anyone Finds It Before Me Post It, This Was A Couple Of Months Ago That I Saw It
