got the handle bar bag done. the leather is thick. over 1/8". the skulls are snaps to keep it close. the bag is big enough to fit my 21mm wrench all my tools, tube ect and a sandwich and some beer, next comes the battery bag. the dragon is all hand carved and stamped

Wow Paul,
You've got some serious skills! I guess for you it was like riding a bike...you never lost your touch. Awesome job and I can't wait to see the battery bag.
One question: what do you need a 21mm wrench for?

I just carry an 8" adjustable wrench so it minimizes the amount of tools in my riding back pack.
What's funny is after hundreds of miles riding, not once have I had to use any of my tools. Even at home.

I am coming up on 5,000 miles and had a couple flats and that's about it. I guess I still have the mind set of the 2 stroke I had which I was always fixing something so I make sure I have everything I could possibly need if I do have problems. probably a little over kill on the tools but what the heck I have a nice bag to carry them in lol. like all my bicycles, motorized and not motorized I do basic maintenance to the bike all the time. air pressure, brake adjustments and things like that

So I could use some advice. I have these 2 bikes, purchased over the last 3 years, never thinking of motorizing.

My issue(s) is(are)

Carbon fiber bike has no suspension, will only handle up to 50mm tires (tad under 2"). Mounting battery might be tough because of carbon fiber.

Gravity Mt Bike has no "triangle" worth speaking of to mount battery because of the suspension. Definitely want to mount in frame.

Someone else mentioned on this thread the Motobecane Elite X4 which has front suspension (I'm hearing this is a must) and is cheap enough for me to buy on a whim. Would this cover my needs?
Here is what I am buying for motor: Magic Pie 3 and probably the 10Ah lipo whatever from Golden Motors.

So, is the Elite worth putting a motor on? Haven't seen the one in this thread all decked out yet.
Thanks
John

I added front suspension on my cruiser. it makes a heck of a difference. rear suspension I just used a good thudbuster suspension seat post. I have mounted my battery both in the frame and on a rear rack, I prefer the rear rack because it is natural looking on a bicycle and gives the stealth look. with the smart pie the bike ran better with battery in the frame, I think because it is not as powerful as the magic pie and every little bit helps like balanced bike,. with the magic pie I noticed no difference except looks with the battery on the rack. hope this helps answer your questions. magic pie I think is a great electric motor to motorize any bicycle.

If the Elite has 700cc wheels, that would be my choice of the three. However, that mt. bike looks pretty cool too.

That is a nice piece of work. I like the thick leather.

You could put one of those plastic wrapped Ping pouch cell batteries in there and it would be safe if you dropped the bike.

i have to say i still like the bottle or kettle style battery the best on my motorized bicycles. they are easy to paint to match the bike and actually look like they are part of it and gives that better stealth look

Two engineers are walking down the road and see Paul pushing his ebike along because the battery ran out of juice.
"What do you think of that contraption?" says one engineer to the other.
"I don't know, but sure is a nice paint job" says the other. . . .
