You must get a lot of reaction and double takes driving that around SoCal. :)

Is there any truth to the rumor that you are bring the baby Scout to the June 1st race at Grange Motor Circuit?
After seeing two four wheelers at the last race, I'm seriously thinking of bringing it out to cruise the pits. You can try it out if you have a little time. It's geared for about 8 - 10 mph max, so it won't be out on the track. Probably take about a week to go one lap.

Scored an engine with electric start and alternator. Soon to be installed in the Scout III. Got it all apart for cleaning and painting.

I will document as we get the work done. We may gear it to go a little faster also.

Thanks Curt. This one works fine, but I'll remember you have one. Do you have the rest of the engine? Is it a vertical or horizontal shaft starter?
It is a vertiacl shaft and my son has the mower. It belonged to a neighbor who changed it back to pull start. Do to a problum with a short it keeped dieing when he bumped a tree or something and still does it. Are you looking for something else off it? 4hp i think............Curt

Here's the engine complete. I'm going to mount it on an old lawnmower deck to test run. The fuel tank is large and may not fit into the body. I can mount a remote tank if that's a problem.

It's time to get the Scout III ready for it's 3rd Huntington Beach Employees Chili Cook-off, raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

So I stripped all the trim off the body in order to patch and fill. It had a rough time at the King Of The Hammers event with my grandson a few months ago.
Took the body off and soon realized rolling on orange peel paint looks better than brush strokes.

I'm not installing the electric start engine or the higher gearing this time around. I'll wait until there's more time between events. The High Desert Roundup is just around the corner and Greg has to use it to haul the wagon full of rocks to mark a course for the "Wet Lap" contest.

I got it all back together and put some HB decals on the door, ready for the event.

Then I installed some large electric horns along with a tractor battery.

Got it all wired up and it's loud.

The theme this year for the Chili Cook-off was "Finish the Fight" against cancer, so they asked me to make a small boxing ring.

Then I loaded it all up.

And it was a big hit.

Now that it has a battery, there's no reason to delay installing the electric start motor. Then maybe make the lights function. Most of my projects are ever completely finished.

Well it's chili cook off time again at the City. This will be the Scout III's 4th appearance and is still a crowd pleaser.

I had to put it on the rack for a lube job.
