To answer you question on the bike seen in the speedo pic, yes it has almost 1000 miles on it now, stock BGF engine, still runs like a champ, fixing to do some upgrades on it though, new upper wrist pin bushing, clean jug ports and match them better and a Dax head with a better squish band just to see what the changes those three things will make in how this engine runs and if I will see a noticeable power increase.

one of my other oldest BGF stock engines has right at 2000 miles on it now and it still runs great, gonna do a couple mods to it soon also, want to just freshen it up a bit and change the upper bearing in it, could be getting a little weak by now after 2000 miles of high revs. by the way got these miles on these engines running 80:1 mix of Opti2 oil.... good stuff..!

Nice looking bike, your biggest speed killer in my opinion is the stock exhaust pipe you're using, I don't care if it has a hole in it or not it still take lots of power away from these engines, biggest power and speed robbing thing you can have on one of these HT engines in my experience, my oldest bike had a free flowing exhaust I had made up on it and it cruised really nice at 30mph, I took that exhaust off and put a stock pipe on it that was completely wide open inside, NO cat junk in it at all just open chamber and the cruise speed dropped 5mph instantly on this bike and the low end power fell of dramatically, stock pipes suck all the way around in my opinion, put a SBP expansion pipe or one of the JNMotors expansion pipes or something that you can match port the exhaust flange to the engine with that isn't so restrictive and you will see a big difference in power and I'll bet you'll see a few mph top speed increase also, I did on all mine when I got away from the stock pipes.

yea i know, i used to have my old motevelo/spb expansion chamber but i wanted to change out to arrow motorized torque 2 exhaust. should be coming in the mail any moment. Damn, i have high hopes for my motor lasting that long then lol but my BIGGEST problem is my fuel line....it empties out so fast cuz its short due to the fuel getting stuck in the line.. i need to find a way to fix this so i can ride for longer periods of time without running out of gas.... i know custommotorbicycles.com has a petcock that is at a 90 degree, maybe that could solve my issue with a new fuel line to help but i just done know. my motor sits to high for the line to be like it is on a bike with a fuel tank

As long as the petcock is above the carb, you can just add a longer fuel line that will loop down and then back up and you shouldn't have an issue getting fuel to flow into the carb.

Also you may be able to just remove the petcock and screw a 90 degree brass barbed fitting into the tank and then use a small inline shutoff valve, not sure what the petcock looks like since I never seen one of those frames up close, so I'm just slinging ideas out there that may be possibilities.

provlem with the longer hose is that when the hose is bent at a horizonal curve the gas intends to stay there and not go down as it should. my hose is literally 4 inches long lol i do want it longer because the gas gets sucked into the carb really fast and the petcock is not a free flowing petcock as i "thought" it would be. As in when u switch the lever into the on position the fuel SHOULD jus flow right out of it and thats not the case... im also using the brass one since its shorter and i thought it would be better at the flow compared to the on and off petcock i previously bought.. took apart the silver petcock i bought and noticed that the gas DOES NOT flow downwards but instead goes thru a small hole and sits in the chamber while there is another hole that dumps into the fuel line if that makes sense. Thought about drilling thru that petcock and having a straight hole dumped directly into the hose and have an inline hose shut off lever so i could make the hose longer and curve it. I think this gas tank frame is horrible at where they put the petcock lol Also thought about either jus adding a rear gas tank or a keg style gas tank under the seat or just go ghetto and get a rear rack and strap a small red gas canister to the rear lol Really sucks because if it werent for this gas problem the bike would be awesome! instead of the bike shutting down on me at times and having to restarting it back up. pita. I will post a picture of how the fuel line is setup later tonight when i get home. But i will say this bike is A LOT of fun and i get attention all over when i ride and the best thing is, cost me $2 to fill up full tank on premium lol

Sounds like you may have answered your own question and solved your problem dc, I say drill through the other petcock and use an inline shut off, I wouldn't like the running out of fuel and shutting off mess either....that would stink!

looking forward to the pics when you have the chance.

That aint no lie, I hate waiting on packages, my wife says if I dont get something in the mail almost everyday I would fall apart......thats actually not true but I do have something or the other ordered most of the time even if it's just some nickel & dime junk...LOL!

Sometimes I forget something and then when I get it a week or so later it's like Christmas.....LOL!dance1

I agree abiut the forgeting part! love that feeling lol Right now im waiting on my torquer 2 exhaust which i order last monday but hasnt shipped. Talked to dave at arrows and he set it straight to me which i respect, trying to take care of his customers. Ive been waiting so i can try the new exhaust out and finally get some tuning in! lol guess if this drilling works ill have to order new parts and by the time thise parts arrive my exhaust will too lol

I'll bet you can find what ever it is you would need at a local hardware store or maybe even at a NAPA Auto parts store, I work for them back in the early 90's and they have everything under the sun normally in the way of brass fittings and such.

yea I'll def check the auto store since there is a couple around the area and maybe lowe's. Okay so here is the pic of how long my fuel hose is now that I was talking about earlier. Don't mind the smashed air filter lol I had to make room for the hose. Still works too!

I have that same valve on one of my bikes and it flows great just fine.... scratching head.

let me ask you this... if you disconnect fuel line from carb and open the valve does fuel flow out in a steady stream?
If it does then unless you have a venting issue in the tank you should not be having any issues getting enough fuel to the carb. if it does flow good from the valve and you are running out of gas while riding I say its a carb issue, maybe float level is set to low in the carb and the fuel supply isn't getting replaced quick enough. I'd do the flow test if you haven't already and if it it flowing good I say pull carb and check float level, that could very well be your problem.

Oh by the way, I hope you have filter oil on that air filter.... cloth filter do not filter out dust and dirt if they're not oiler, they're like almost running no filter at all if they're not oiled well, I use K&N filter oil, or you can find it at motorcycle shops normally, they're is oil for the foam filters and for the cloth filters, the oil for the foam filters is very sticky I don't use it on cloth filters, just thought I would mention this in case you didn't know.

say that the tannk isnt vented which i thought would be conaidering its built for motorized bicycles, how would u go about trying to vent it? open the cap a lil bit? there is a seal on the underside that when i first recieved the frame it was stuck on the fuel hole as i took off the cap, drill a hole thru that? ill check th float as well.

im sure the filter does, but not sure. all i know is when i take it off there is some oil on thr inside but not like my old low profile filter i ran on the stock ht, that thing woukd soak in oil and id have to wash it once a week or twice

The tank has to vent for everything to work right, below is a link to what I would use.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-GAS-F...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43bdfa40b7

The way I would do this is I would order the vent tube assembly, and when I got it I would find me a piece of small steel or brass tubing that the clear vent tube will fit snugly over, I would drill the hole in the gas cap so that the steel or brass tubing will just fit through the hole, I would braze the tubing into the gas cap myself but if you dont have access to a torch and the know how to braze I would simple go buy some JB Weld, clean all the parts very good with carb cleaner to remove any oil and then I would JB Weld the metal tube into the gas cap, let it cure over night slide the vent tube on the metal tube and walah.... you are venting that tank now.

You can also just put the metal tube into the gas cap like I described and then just run a 2 or 3inch piece of fuel tubing straight up off of it and vent it that way without buying the "fancy" little tank vent, my old dirt bikes vented with just a tube run up off the fuel cap, they didn't have anything on the end of them, so that will work just fine also.

I'd vent the gas cap before I went into the carb just to see if that will fix it, if not then I'd check the float level in the carb. no need to risk messing up a bowl gasket if you dont have to....

well i think the tank is vented. I actually had no problem earlier today when i took the bike out on a 20 mile ride. but near the end the gas did get sucked into the carb and the petcock wasnt letting out enough fuel. I did get time to drill out my old petcock straight thru and tested it on my other gas tank with water and it flowed out perfectly. I would replace the two petcocks but i feel like it wouldnt fix it. only way to know is to try lol so i think ill do that when i run out of gas. thought about adding an inline fuel shutoff but i feel the problm would still consist due to no back pressure to force the gas thru the tube and into the carb. wish they made a small fuel pump, that would be awesome!

Gravity is more than enough pressure to flow for these engines...... if the petcock flos freel when open and you're running out of gas then its a carb problem.

That is if the problem is actually a fuel starving issue and not something hing else.

that mayb be true but from what i noticed is that these fuel lines need to have some length so the fuel sits in the tube longer. on my buddies stock motor the fuel would either be 3inches from the carb or after a day of riding filled all the way to the top. if it were completely free flowing then id assume that the whole fuel line would always be filled with fuel. maybe its a tune problem? im waiting on the expansion chamber to actually tune it properly, but if i have to, i can either buy a rear rack gas tank or the gas barrel that sits behind the seat lol worse case scenerio of course, jus to lengthen the fuel line. Oh and also when i ran my other bike which had a reg gas tank i never ran out of gas because the length of the line :p
