Not alot of room for a bigger engine.....maybe a pancake is in order?

certainly interesting. It would have to be either friction or front drive. I dont see how a rear chain drive would be possible.

An electric *pancake* or *pie* hub motor would work just fine......a simple, easy build.

If you want something really weird, I saw this the other day Over Here(there's a vid too, lol):

Why walk or cycle when you can wallcycle?, pedalk? heh heh.

Or if you extend the bar neck and sit on top, imagine the size of engine you could get in there eh?
