Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

The Honda horizontal 4 stroke 50cc / 125cc class engines supercharged is currently offered by, the Japanese based Daytona company (suddenly my favorite Honda aftermarket supplier) are going to launch a supercharger kit for their 125cc Monkeybike engine.

Their Youtube video shows a well thought out system of the suck through type, and the plenum even has an intercooler added! The supercharger itself bears a strong resemblance to the Danish- made Rotrex C15, which uses a planetary traction drive, to gear up the axle rpm leading to what equals to the compressor- side of a turbocharger.
Visit their website:
www.rotrex.com/Home/Technology /Product_Technical_Data.aspx The supercharger has a built- in oilpump, and an added oiltank supplies the high- rpm running supercharger with filtered oil.

Here's more the supercharged Honda Dream 50 Cafe Racer 4 stroke racer. The site has a lot of detail on Anders Elsberg's projects, both two and four wheel, as well as information on various 50cc racing motorcycles and a 50cc land speed record vehicle. This particular engine produced 1.2HP in stock form. Elsberg managed to rework it into a supercharged engine producing 8-10HP, with plenty of midrange torque.

Here's a closeup of the 4 stroke with supercharger:

For you off road racing guys, yes you can have a high performance off road racing Motorized Bicycle, supercharged / turbocharged etc... these engines were first produced and manufactured by Honda Motorcycle Co in 1958-59 up thru 1999, and now are cloned for the Pit Bike Dirt Bike & ATV enthusiasts.

Originally used on the Honda Cub in 1960, then in 1968 the Honda Z-50 now known as the Monkey 50cc Bike due to the look of the riders posture when sitting on this bike, then the Honda CRF-50, as well as the Honda Solo 50, just to name a few.

In earlier posts I stated that these engines worked best for Stretch Cruisers & Stretch Choppers, however I've discovered some forum members have modified there regular bikes ie beach cruisers and diy custom built frames to except these amazing engines!

Thanks again to BarelyaWake, for this awesome SOURCE & INFORMATION thread!

BarelyAwake, did you ever start your build with this type engine, I can't remember if you did or not if so could you post a link.

Thanks.

Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

For those of you interested in a 4-stroke 50cc V-Twin engine, well after some extensive OCD'ing / searching the net for 50cc 4-stroke engines I came across this 50cc V-Twin engine produced by Chinese Manufacturer Hensim. I don't know of any suppliers or current USA importers of this engine.

This engine was designed and used on the 50cc mini motorcycle which is a mini clone of a Harley V-Rod.

Hensim 50cc V-Twin 4 Stroke

I couldn't find detailed information as to this engine being a two cylinder v-twin or a faux v-twin single cylinder.

Peace Crazy Horse.
Thanks for the link to this post...I should have known you would have the 411 on this engine!

If somebody on here can get a hold of these I think they could make a ton of money! This is exactly what I need for the look without the price!

Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

Its a Fun Looking Motor Yet it's Just a single cylinder. the rear Jug is fake.. It serves as the air cleaner chamber.. So Look close.

Thanks yes I already read about this engine, they are calling it a 4 stroke v twin "style" engine... And that's ok with me.

Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

To the best of my knowledge Hensim is completely out of business, noone stepping up in their place to offer the faux VTwin.

Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

Barely, how's your build coming along? I'm almost certain you've completed it.

Here's a thought / suggestion:

In an effort to inform more builders about these cloned horizontal " Honda Mini Trail 50" engines (49cc),

Would you consider retitling changing the title of this thread to: " Honda Mini Trail 50 " engines.

It might attract more builders, wanting to use a cloned Honda Mini Trail 50 engine.

Just a thought / suggestion.

Peace C.H.

Barely, was trying to post a new comment to your thread from phone not sure why but I think if is now in the middle of quote.

Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

Actually I'm embarrassed to admit all progress on The Bent Zombie Tribrid Tadpole Trike has come to a screeching halt... due to this;

With the taddy thing - well, it occurred to me that it's electric drive was not only unknown, but I was not terribly familiar with ebikes so I went ahead and used the taddy's electric bits to build this bike and test the hub, batteries, lighting & converters;

vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNhS5FJCqNo
build & review: http://motorbicycling.com/showthread.php?t=38908
pics: http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/nn210/Serenity151/Mongo/

...and despite some initial teething pains, it's worked out almost too well - as in I can't seem to stop riding the thing

So I'm facing a dilemma, a good 'un, but still a conflict nonetheless - I've learned my concerns were disproportional, the electric aspect of the tribrid will work out really well with this particular hub & battery combo & all the lil widgets I've built to go along w/it have been successful...

...but b'cause it's working so well & the ebike is so much fun to ride I can't seem to bring myself to tear it all back apart again, or even stop riding long enough to tinker o_O

*shrug* can't complain about that tho, the bike is a blast, the weather is awesome & now I'm confident the taddy hybrid/tribrid concept is not only valid - but will most likely exceed all my expectations in preformance & range... so as per my usual, it's jus' a matter of time :D
...& I'm beginning to think I may just hafta buy another hub motor jus' so I can keep an electric bicycle in the stable lol

Anyhoo - it's not a bad suggestion regarding the title Crazy Horse, there's a couple hitches tho... mainly I didn't want to limit this thread to just the "Honda Mini Trail 50", as it's also known as/found on the CRF50, XR50 & all sorts of cloned variants... actually if you include it's cloned brethren the list of brands, models & different types becomes seemingly infinite @.@ (tho I would like to keep it to 50s, inc. preformance options ofc)...

It is a good thought & thanks for keepin' the thread in mind - as there's over 48,000 views & counting however, I figure the words gettin' out pretty well ;)

Re: Alternate 4-stroke engine list

I have a 150cc scooter I was wondering if that engine/tranny could be used on like a worksman bike? I haven't had it apart to see how it works but I do know it has a centrifugal clutch and electric start...also can be kick started. It's one of those cheap $700 150cc china scooters.

This thread was intended more towards the 50cc four stroke variants, though I'll admit it's gotten confusing... so I've altered the title to clarify :)
