Maybe I could try and set a riding event up over here, in that case. :D Been itching to do a non-solo ride for a week now, heh.

Motorized bicycles are rare over here, too. I've only seen one other gas bike in the last five years or so.
Sounds like fun to me.

After some searching, appears to me there's quite a low chance of seeing anyone on that last returning. :p

Either way, though, I will definitely try to think of a good time for a future ride here. Even if it's just a 2 or 3 person event, it's definitely a start. :D

Apparently there are a couple other HTs here in my little town, but have not seen them yet. The only reason I know is by talking with the owner of my LBS, the only one in town.

I saw the frame of one a whlile back, a Manhatten Aero with the front motor mount drilled through the frame, apparently there was some damage done to the bike that the shop was fixing after the motor fell off while riding?

And just yesterday I was there picking up a shorter BMX one piece crank (man I love their cast-off pile, heehee) and the owner was telling me about ordering a Shimano coaster hub like he got for me to replace a non-Shimano coaster hub that grenaded. He said he knew exactly what it was for when he saw that "goofy spoke/sprocket thing", lol.

I have a really nice heavy duty bike rack for our SUV, just need to get a hitch for it. Once I do that, I would love to meet up with the other Central TX MaBers. Motorbicyclists? Motorbikers? Velocipedians?

I think what you're talking about is a state rally. That would be big fun. I think Austin, or San Antoino would be nice.

I might be able to make a central TX ride...but not until I get a replacement magneto. Anybody know any local places I could get one this weekend? I'd rather not have to pay/wait for shipping.

Maurtis, if you help with gas, I've got a truck.

Tonight when I went for a little ride around the hood, another guy jumped out of his car at a light to ask about my bike. That's the second guy in less than 2 weeks.

He ask if there's a web site so I told him about this one.

You can try it, but the Oak Cliff bike groups are full of weird hipsters and some anarchists and worse. I rode with some of the Oak Cliff and Dallas bike rides for a while. A few people were interested in it, and some people were nice, but a lot of them were really rude to me and hated the bike, even though I was pedalling in their group with the motor off. You might try it though, because a lot of the bars and businesses around there don't seem to mind scooters, mopeds, or mabs.

I'm thinking about riding over to Oak Cliff tomorrow to this bicycle event. It's not a MB related event, but it seems like a good place to be seen on one. Plus it's in the Bishop Arts district.

Wow, that's crazy. If someone jumps out of their car, I scoot! I keep little flyers for people that ask about the bike. Saves a lot of time.
It seems like people always want to ask about my bike right in the middle of the street, or when I'm in a hurry to get somewhere. I usually say something nice and ride off, but later I always wish I had ask them pull over, and let them ask me their questions.

I'm pretty sure they'll be nice to me, especially if I stop beating the crap out of them first lol. j/k

Hmm. That's a good idea; I think I might go create a flyer in Word or something and run off some copies. :D A lot of people ask about my bike, too.

In other news, my ride this past evening came to an abrupt end when my chain slipped from the engine sprocket. Posted a thread in the Troubleshooting section, since I have no Earthly idea how to access that sprocket to reseat the chain. :-||

Oy. I'm reminded of the few months I tagged along with Fort Worth Critical Mass last summer, on my old Trek 3700. More rude, classist hipsters/yuppies than I could stand. To their credit, they have been revitalizing Fort Worth's urban core, but some of them act like they own the place now. :p

I not planning to peddle anywhere with them. There's a bicycle shop on Bishop st, and a Chips Hamburgers. Ruben lives not too far from there too. My job is to see and be seen by as many people as possable. Lowriders are very popular in that part of town too.

Lowriders have intrigued me for years. They look neat. Never have gotten the chance to try riding one, however. I've assumed that the seating position and such would make pedaling one quite difficult, though I may be proven wrong if I ever get around to testing that assumption. :p

There's jerks everywhere in life, but for everyone of them there's twice as many nice people.

I am starting to have my doubts about Bicycles Plus though. When I go to the one in Coppell I get the feeling they don't like my MB, especially when I ride it there and park on the sidewalk by their front door.

I think it's the look I'm going to be stuck on for a while.
