I was three years old in 1971 in Princeton, NJ. Sitting in front of my Mom's turntable I played my first vinyl record. It was Don McLean's American Pie. The first song I can ever remember listening to.

Then and there I made a promise to myself that in the year 2010 I would join a motor bicycling forum using the name of rockhopper in honor of that special time in my life.

True story.

Oh, and I drive a Chevy, too. But I've only ever seen a levy on TV.

My nickname is pretty self explanitory. Lots of bass fishers out there, but I fish 90% for catfish, mostly channel cats, some blue cats. Also 5% crappie in the spring, 5% salmon in the fall. I prefer my old boat, but also bank fish when the boat isn't convenient.

I got a DUI last year. I made this name when I was desperately seeking alternative methods of transportation (which led me here). For some reason I couldn't help but be a little clever, although I was pretty distraught at the time, hence the name. Although I have my license back and all the fines are paid off, I am still here enjoying the hobby of the motorized bicycles. Weird how that works out. Serendipity, karma, call it what you want, but I was introduced to something fun and exciting because of something dumb and irresponsible. Almost makes me want to do other irresponsible stuff (you can laugh, I'm not serious).

i was DJing & many of my friends were DJs. everybody use to give me a hard time for refusing to have a "DJ name".
i also like to study physics. both quantum & standard.
so the cross over is decoherence.
decoherence is when the relative reality changes between quantum or standard classic physics. either way.
musically, i play i cover all types of genres.
from stacks & motown to tribe called quest, easy e, booty music, pop from any decade.
i don't use any pre mixed tracks & use each song as a texture in a more dancey way with out being "techno sounding"
so my tagline was " Decoherence, taking the classics into a quantum breakdown"

I started using "Fulltimer" when my wife and I sold our house in PA and hit the road in our motorhome. We lived in it "full time" for 6 years traveling around the country. I'm sorry to say the motorhome is gone and I'm stuck in a house again.

Thanks for 'bumping' this old thread, Dave. With so many new members since Joe started this there should be some additions. It's fun to see where these screen names come from.
Thanks for keeping it alive guys. Keep it going.

I played a lot of sports while growing up, especially Baseball. Alex Rodriguez was a rising superstar at the time and he has been my favorite player since his rookie debut. I kinda stole his nickname and replaced the "A" with an "F" getting "F Rod" instead of "A Rod". The number 81 was my high school football number.

The name Dirt Road Cowboy was thrown out on the ADV Riders forum. I liked it, and it kind of stuck.

It fits me in a way though. Ever since I was a little kid, I was always exploring dirt roads and trails. Then when I turned 11, my grandparents bought me a Honda Trail 70, and there was no stopping my explorations then.

When I lived in Arizona, I liked to explore the desert, back roads and ghost towns.

As far as the cowboy part, I suppose that fits a bit since I'm kind of a loner, plus I always liked the Thin Lizzy Cowboy Song! I don't really do the Country & Western music thing though, except some old Lynyrd Skynyrd.

BTW
Some of you guys seem to like older cars, so here's a pic of my daily driver. It's a '67 Cougar with a small block. I restored it from a rusted out shell.
