here's a few simple suggestions...

if we run willow again we should run the track backwards.

and to organize the prize give-away, they could be packaged up and labeled 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, instead of just randomly handing them out.

a simple raffle (unlike mine;)) could be held to give out the random, smaller prizes. everyone who enters would get a free ticket, and sell some cheap to spectators.

WOW!!! Let me say, I was just about to ask the question in the last thread if the race was a big enough success to where it will be happening again! I am super stoked to hear the great news! Thanks again Neil! You rock!

I have plans to upgrade my contraption so I can hang with the big boys next time! I hope to have it done by then!

Cheers! dnut

Totally excited!!! Count me in!
Can't wait to find out where it is....

I thought the way you organized and ran the last race was good. Here are my suggestions.

1. Make everbody volunteer in some way. Every racer is SCHEDULED to help during another race.
2. Have a "stock" or "Ca. legal" class. (50cc or smaller, single gear) I already have 5 people signed up for this class....... only need 5 more to make it a go.
3. Seperate the classes by motor size or power, not by 2 vs 4 stroke. For example: 0-50cc, 51-150cc and 151+

Just my suggestions, I will attend and race regardless of how you set it up.

I think those are good ideas!
I think Neil did a pretty good job for his first race, & I think the next will be even better!
I think there should be a few more people keeping track of the scoring of all the races, & I also noticed that there were several Morini bikes racing in the 2-stroke china races.

The 2-stroke china class is obviously the largest class, & needs a lot more attention.
There were 30 racers on that little track at one time & I know that made it a lot harder on both the racers & the score keepers.
I think it should have been kept in two groups, (A-main & B-main) with the winners of the slower B-main 'bumping up' into the faster A-main race.

I'd be happy to give any help I can this time around. :)

Way to Be Neil,

I'm setting up lower gearing sooner rather than later. Also, ordering a green flag, just so the MB's crowd can look 'Professional.'

May as well organize some scorekeeping around what the volunteers did June 18th. They had the best seats 'round the track and were having a hoot!

See you and everyone there,
Will.shft.

We are not racing at Willow Springs Raceway this time.

The owner and staff at WSR was fantastic to deal with. We had a one
time first event special deal where the $10 weekend gate fee was waived
for everyone whether you were on the track or a spectator.

The next WSR event would have been a lot more expensive for most of
you and the new track and facilities are much, much nicer.
I got an unbeatable deal considering all the improvements and benefits.

I am trying to keep the entry fees about the same and the new track is
going to blow you away! I am really excited about it.

Most of the prizes were not given away randomly believe or not and I
am well aware of the off the cuff nature of the prize ceremony which will
be much improved as I have more time before this race.

A prize raffle has been suggested but if someone will volunteer to run it
great!
In the week before the last race almost no one volunteered to do anything
so you all know what to do this time. I can not do most of it myself.

I paid a local guy Troy $100 to help with entries and do the flag starting and
finishing at Willow Springs. He said that he was going to build a bike and
race in the next one....lol Troy did a great job, thanks.

Norm, that blows. i don't know anyone else who was charged. they musta scammed you to pay for their lunch...

BiMoPed, you just love to keep things secret, hunh?

if i was you, i'd start advertising now, asking for volunteers, and whatever it takes to get the most out of this one. everytime i talked to you before, it was always "we still have 40 days, 30 days, 3 weeks, 10 days..." ;)

BS? A few people got charged by mistake and I sent them back to the gate
and they got refunded with no problem.
Your name and your girlfriend's were on a gate list and if you said you were
in the Motorized Bicycle event and gave them your # there was no charge.

General Admission paid $10 and got a green wristband. Our event got a
yellow band and it was no charge for anyone that pre registered which
you did.

All this info was and is still on the race thread.

Anyway the new track is going to be exclusively ours, there will be no
one else there on the day. I will be hiring a local person to be the
gate person and take entry fees, issue event & track wristbands, sign waivers,
admit spectators, etc

The gate hours are up to me and I can also set the on track time hours.
We will have more time on the track.
Free camping Friday night and Saturday too included with your entry fee,
extremely nice facilities, you guys are going to love it!

HHMMM could it be Adams Motorsports Park | Southern California Race Track??????

Also since there was 2 mains, a 2 stroke main and a trophy dash, shouldn't there be prizes available for both mains? After all they both were mains? Just my 2 cents

There was a
4 stroke 12 lap final
2 stroke 12 lap final
Unlimited Gas + eBike 12 lap final
then the
12 lap Trophy Dash with the fastest from the above classes.

There were all kinds of prizes for everyone.

See you and everyone there,
Will.
Thanks for the flags at the Willow Springs race but we don't need
any this time. The flags have already been arranged. We are going to
be very pro this time.

I don't know about the lower gearing too, a shifter bike may do better
at the new track.

The only thing lacking about the score keeping at Willow was that
we needed more volunteers or an assigned system, It got old
delaying race starts while begging for scorers.

I plan on having pre made large scorecards with all the laps, grids, etc
on them. What do you think?
Maybe on some heavy stock?
or just on clipboards?

Also at the sign up and race schedule board having lots of pens attached
with string so they stay there.

A much larger table to display prizes with sponsor names and info.

Thanks Baird, I am asking for volunteers now.
email me please, those that were at Willow Springs know what needs to be done.

My wife is going to kill me!
can I get#22 as I have my plate from the last time?
Yes, everyone gets to keep their number as long as you
keep racing.

Lots of guys have had their #'s from the Death race so soon
you will remember who has what # which will make it more fun.

Please pre register this time so the race can be planned in advance
and use my email for contact.
Also please use your race # in the subject of all emails so I know
who you are more easily.

it's hard to keep track of 100 or more people.
thanks
