Sportsman Racer Latest Photos

I never power them up, I just sit around and stare at them!

And when Pat isn't staring at his latest build (always for someone else) he's riding your bike because he never has time to build one for himself. If it wasn't for my bike, he'd never have taken one for a ride.

Pat - I think It's time to finish one for yourself!

Pat, as I mentioned earlier, feel free to take your time with my build. I'd love to see your build progress along. As they say, never rush an artist.

Ooh! Yes, a class, Pat can teach a class at my college for 4 credits where you build sportsman racers and get to take one home at the end. I shudder to think of the cost of that class but it would be so cool! (I know you meant a different thing when you said "class":D)

That's excellent Pat! I'd love to see a Sportsman Flyer with the same color scheme and setup. Also, when's the site going to be active!

We had a big photo shoot for the web site last weekend. These pictures are from that. Turned the shop into a photo studio for a couple days. The site is almost finished but still no firm date of when we turn it on. All I can say is soon.

As my jaw hangs agape, the envy drips down and burns holes in the carpet. (yeah, that little red bike isn't too bad, I guess.)

That is absolutely beautiful. And i love how the expansion chamber fills the drop loop frame. WOW

Awesome build!!!!!
Im dying to know though...not to change the subject. but how did you get that awesome bike to stand up for the picture? :)

Funny how life works. Chance events. How often do you see a 1911 Indian in original condition? I should have had my camera. I just dropped by Bevmo to grab a six pack and some guy had an enclosed trailer with the tail gate open. He had four vintage motorcycles in there and one was an original condition 1911 Indian. I just couldn't belive it! Totally checked the whole thing out, the Messenger seat, u-joint controls linkage, everything. Said he ran part of the Cannonball with it this year. Turns out there is a vintage motorcycle show and auction this weekend in Monterey! So much for working in the shop. I'll be at the show trying to sit on the oldest motorcycles in the world and of course getting pictures. We'll see.

Good quality stands on it's own! Of course photoshop helps.

Here are a couple more shots from the photo shoot. My friend Jeff gets all the credit. The guy really knows his trade.

Details everywhere.

I never power them up, I just sit around and stare at them! Seriously, though, this bike is still in assembly and I needed to give it the pedal test so I wrapped the bars so I could hang on. It will get finished over the next couple weeks. I have a nice little hill out in front of my shop so I was coasting this thing all over last night. The 4" stretch on these frames makes for a nice, smooth handling machine. I had a grin from ear to ear. Can't wait to twist the e soon to be added throttle and run it on up to 50 mph!

Pat, with the stretch what is the wheelbase on the Sportsman??

Bellisimo!! Bravo, Pat. Super nice!

One of the reasons I prefer cruisers is that I am too fat to bend over much.
:-(
However another it just seems uncomfortable lying more or less over the tank and top bar....however, I noticed that at least one racer had a leather pad on top of the tank, sort of ike a pillow. That would make for an interesting touch, a nice leather pad on top of the frame.

My Hardley Davidson is a cruiser so I will not add it, although I am now thinking about a boardtracker....because.... here in Austin I just found out that they are bringing the Gran Prix formula one to Austin for the 2012-2021 seasons and they are building a twisting and turning track with even an elevated rise to simulate road racing...and it is only going to be 15 minutes from my house....now I am thinking hard about may building a 9 HP racer....
wonder how much they would charge to ride on that track off season...this isn't going to be a boring oval. If I had a nice enough looking bike they might let me use it.

Pat, with the stretch what is the wheelbase on the Sportsman??

Just checked the CAD file. The wheel base is 49 1/4" inches with the rear wheel all the way forward. At mid adjustment that would put it at a 50" wheel base. What's a thread bump without a couple pictures? Here are some drive train detail shots of Racer 5, my personal Racer, from the shop late last night. As I build more of these stretch frames (11 so far), I am finding ways to make my job easier. I am also figuring out that not all rear drum brake hubs are the same. Each hub requires a fair amount of dialing in. There are different configurations available to every aspect of these hubs, from axles, to backing plates, offset, sprocket selection, freewheel choice. I have started padding and covering my BTR seats with leather, too.
