Any one showing up for any of these 'OC' rides should be warned that you will need DOT helmets, a M1 or M2 drivers license & a DMV license plate on your bike!! OR YOU WILL GET TICKETS! :(

Hey Venice
There is a beer garden at the car show. lol

That is not true, only areas are Newport Beach and Huntington
Beach down by the beach where this is enforced.

I and many others have ridden extensively all over OC and north OC
without a plate and never been stopped by the many car and
motorbike police I have seen let alone got a ticket.

One of my license plates will be here soon though and we will
be doing an all legal Huntington Bch through Newport Bch to
Crystal Cove down PCH soon.

You do have to wear a helmet and a DOT is the way to go. You
will get a ticket for no helmet in LA too as I know a few riders that
got them. You guys wear helmets on your LA rides and even the "fake"
lids pass muster in most of OC.

There is no problem in the Stanton and north OC area where the
Car Show is.
You can meet up at Stanton Park at Beach and Katella or ride in
from the Long Beach area too.

i'm up for it.

as far as the cop situation goes, that's been beaten to death in every ride thread, every mention of orange county beaches, and hundreds of places on this forum.

bottom line is, if you're legal, don't worry about it.

if you've been riding around illegally already, it obviously doesn't matter to you where or when you get busted, so you might as well come along.

there's no excuse for not knowing the laws, unless it's your first day here.

There were a lot of riders on the last ride who were really pissed off that they were led into Huntington Beach & then 'rounded up' & given tickets!

On the many 'LA' club rides, there's never been one ticket handed out.

I've got a M1 but I go through bikes so fast that I don't have any plates on them.

i can understand people getting PO'd, but it's not like we intentionally "led" people into HB so they could get busted. i've ridden through there hundreds of times before and after i was legal and never had a problem.

me and my buddy rode right past those same cops and they didn't bother with us, and i didn't have a plate on my bike.

i'm still sayin', it's up to the rider whether he wants to be legal or not. we all know the laws, we all know the risks, and it's only a matter of time before every city is a bust.

there's also a loophole you can try to exploit:

V C Section 5032 Application Required Exception
Application Required: Exception
5032. (a) The application for a special license plate for a motorized bicycle shall be made before the motorized bicycle is operated or moved upon a highway, except that, upon the retail sale of a motorized bicycle when there is no license plate, the operator may operate the motorized bicycle for a period of five days from and including the date of sale, at which time application shall be made to the department for a special license plate. If the fifth day should fall on Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday, the application shall be made on the first business day thereafter.
(b) The five-day operating provision set forth in subdivision (a) shall apply only if the operator has in his immediate possession evidence that the motorized bicycle was purchased within the last five days including the date of sale.

and Norm, you should print out this one and carry it with you:

V C Section 5039 Dealer Manufacturer or Salesman License Exemption
Dealer, Manufacturer, or Salesman License Exemption
5039. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no dealer, manufacturer, salesman, or representative of motorized bicycles exclusively is required to be licensed or permitted pursuant to Chapter 4 (commencing with Section 11700) of Division 5.

Time? The Stanton Car Show is from 9 am to 2pm
so maybe arrive at Stanton Park at about 11 am to 12 noon?

The starting point is up for debate as most of us OC guys
are all around Stanton.
Was hoping to see all who were coming to help figure that
out.

Would like the local OC guys who are racing at Willow Springs
to show up to discuss the event.
Magrider will have all the racing and track time schedules there that
he has worked out.

How about starting at Huntington Beach's best free car show in the world at Adams Avenue Donuts? It's at Magnolia and features hundreds of cars, bikes, motorcycles, scooters and motorbikes. They love our rides and it breaks up at 9:00 a.m. just when our ride starts.

That's a great idea as I have always wanted to go to that car show
at Adams Avenue Donuts but never made it.

I will be there at about 9 am.

The kid and I will be there before 8:00 a.m. to have time to look around and show off our bikes. As I said before, the cars are usually gone by 9:00 a.m. because the businesses start to open then. Try to make it earlier.

Too bad, I had fun riding your Whizzer at El Dorado.
I am still waiting on my plate so I am carrying my $19 DMV money order receipt
with me, not that I am worried about getting stopped...LOL

Out of the 4 of you that got stopped did anyone else get a ticket?
Only one of the 3 of us got a fix it ticket. I got off even though I did not
have my license plate and red rear reflector.

I think you mean Newport Beach and that ride will be happening soon.

Are you coming to the Willow Springs event on June 18th?

It looks like I will be able to make it atleast for the first half of the ride! Have cops hassled any of you guys about having a loud bike? My bike is pretty loud with the fishtail on it.
