I just bought this bike at the flea market for $20.00 and thought it might make a good board track build. I have no idea what make it might be though, can anyone help? It has no serial numbers that I can find, the badge is worn off too much to make out. It does have some unusual features though.

I'm not sure what it is myself. But it has the same style of fat-tire cruiser frame as my JC Higgins, and it's WWII era. My Higgins looked a lot like that at first, so you have quite a bit of sanding ahead of you (unless you have money for sand/media blasting). But I know when I get done with mine, it'll have been worth it for me.

if the aluminum tag was stamped go and have it x-rayed lol even if it is wore of you will still be able to see the words. When mettle is stamped it goes deep into the mettle leaving the pattern of the word in the mettle even if ya grind the top layer off. Good luck

Thanks but it looks like it was just inked on.

the top bars remind me of a worksman frame, long shot but maybe its an old one of them? i haven't seen very many cruiser frames where the top bars were shaped like that, although i dndn't have any interest in cruisers until recently.

I know what you mean, at first the board track style didn't hold my attention, now they do. But as I said before, the badge seems to say "sprite" at the end of the name, but not sure about it. It would just be nice to find out and maybe get a new badge for it.

it's a Western Flyer, probably late 50's, early 60's.

Western Flyers were made for Western Auto by a bunch of different manufacturers, so it's hard to pinpoint the exact year from the serial numbers.
Thanks I appreciate it, I'll see if I can find some pictures of badges and try to match them up. I couldn't find a serial number on it though. Maybe when I start cleaning it I will find it.

I was able to clean up the badge enough to make out the last few letters, "ORN"
Does anyone recognize this as the least letters on the name on a bike?

like this?:
That is it! Thank you very much! The only difference I see is that the rivets on mine are on the sides and not aligned top and bottom like the one in your picture.
Again Thank you! Do you know where the serial number might be now? It would be nice to find out what year it was made. You ROCK!
