To all the guys who think this is a "gold mine" : Please, for Gods sake, don't quit your day job!

I have been in manufacturing for 30 years...the parts that I make for Mb's are sold WAY below cost...MB parts are "fill-in" work for my shop. I'm glad to have it!...And I appreciate that you guys like my designs!

I want to reiterate again...I do not make a profit off of the MB parts that I make!!! It's just fill-in work, which is better than doing nothing...seriously though...sometimes we, (Karen & I), wonder if it really is better than doing nothing!

The cost of the metal, cutters, machine oil, machine coolant...time spent...Karen is probably right...it isn't worth it...but I do it anyway.

I get calls from excited newbies several times per week...They all have great plans for creating a business that will set motorbicycling on a new and revolutionary path...and millions of dollars will soon follow!

I have 200K+ in machine shop tools. I can do what i want...when I want...without any regard to price. I set the price for my machined MB parts based on what I know this market will bear...and the builder benefits from it!

you are so right Jim,when i made my first cheesy walmart china girl build I made it for like 250$. I had about 40 people ask how much they cost and I told them the truth , they acted like that was too much. OMFG people want american made products at walmart prices. It aint gonna happen and we all know that ,that live in this country .

Jim, you make products that no other fabricator is willing to do, and that is due to your desire to help people out,Im a business man also but i dont think i have the will to give as much as you have to this community.

This is what I personally would do if i were in your shoes,take it for what it is worth. You have all that money tied up into your equipment plus shop expenses. Figure exactly what these items will cost you and add your profit margin to that cost. Then sell the items for that price, i guarantee people will either pay the price or quit asking for free work.

the choice is yours.

I can attest to the quality of the parts. Overall, I believe the majority of individuals on this site feels the same way. I've seen guys selling motor kits at swap meets and such for wayyyy over what you could get it for from one of the supporting vendors. I asked one of them "who" manufactured the engine and he had no clue. Didn't know anything about the engine, even what size it was. I was amazed. Had I not known about this site and already spent some time researching here, I could have helped him on his dream of making "millions".

You Sir made me laugh...laff...Thank you!

I've done a few medical items over the years...Stainless Hip replacement parts...I designed the oxygen sensor finger clamp that is standard in the medical field...It was silly easy to design, but the company made a big fuss so I went along with it...laff

Call came in just a few hours ago...

I'm going to make sprocket adapters...What will you sell your design info for..."This person actually thought I was going to give them the details" I say 20K...Click...bye...bye

i have a few products from you i havent put them on yet cause they are going on my current build but i have inspected them and everything looks in order i cant wait to find a job so i can pay for the rest of my bikes components it seems i havent put together my next bike and i already have a plan for my next build

i wish i owned a machine shop or even worked at one not so i could make millions and billions of dollars but so i could build whats in my mind give me the materials and tools and i would live in a machine shop the only time i would leave was to test out my creations

but seriously jim i am glad this industry has a dedicated american manufacterer of upgaded components for A reasonable price considering i am a cheap person who believes walmart is too expensive i was willing to fork out some cash that is saying alot

I have to say, though I don't do much machining myself, I know the work when I see it. I have one of Jim's adaptors and a sprocket bolted on the rear hub of my old bike. I knew I had been undercharged the moment I got it out of the box. A factory worker in China wouldn't produce anything remotely close to this. If you ever get one of these - you will not regret it. It beats the rag assembly hands down. The fit was PERFECT for my hub. When the rear wheel is rotated, there is NO wobble. And my chain likes to stay on Jim's sprocket.
Jim, I knew you had to be in it for the love.

Good to see your post, Jim. I have another one of your adapters on order from Pirate for a friend's build. Once you use one it's hard going back. Although I've gotten pretty good at making the rag joint work well, when I look down and see your adapter and sprocket... well, it just says "quality". I told my friend we can go first class or second, his pick. Thanks from one of the poor boys. We like nice things, too.
