Ideas how to contain carb spit-back

does the reed valve have to be against the block to open or could it be before the carb,as stated above
 
how about put one between the chock and filter. will be easier

The reed valve should be as close to the crankcase as possible. That will force more of the fuel mixture into the combustion chamber rather than into the intake tract. Putting the reed between the carburetor and air filter might even cause other problems. For instance, the resulting pressure pulses in the carburetor could mess with your float bowel fuel levels. Just speculation.
 
I've been thinking about this, and I think it would be possible to adapt an existing reed valve to work on our engines. It would involve a lot of fabrication though. I threw together this sketchup model really quick to show you all my idea. The valve is blue, just to make it stand out. Of course, without an actual valve in my hands, it's hard to say if this would even work, but I think it would.
