O.K., the search for 60 mph continues....
Thanks Joe!

And guys...please: let's not let it get heated up. Back in the day, (60's), the factory engineers for the big three said a car would never be capable of exceeding 200mph in a quarter mile run...today 315-335mph is fairly common for the fuelers.

I don't get to contribute tech stuff to the forum very often. There will likely be something for everyone in this thread.

We're not going to "pull out all the stops" and create a bike that will only last for several 1/4 mile runs. The customer wants to be able to ride it without replacing the engine daily.

Final case prep & crank balancing will follow next.

I know a man in the local Wizzer club. He takes blank head castings and machines them. his bike biulds are VERRY fast. the first thing he does in a biuld - rims and tires. HD drum brakes, thicker spokes, HD tubes. Going fast is easy, doing it safe is important. a good street rod has 3 important things to consider, brakes, steering/suspension, and motor( in that order.)

I know poeple are concerned with being safe. Just like to see more than 5 safety posts out of 190, in a thread about speed. Olny because, there are so many (young)people who read this for info but don't post. Teach them right, and the hobby will have a good rep..we.

There will be many more safety posts as we go along. This project will represent a total package.

The reason the thread was closed originally was the claim of 60 mph wasn't achieved, and that's like saying "I'll sell you a bike for 200 dollars, that will be 350 dollars please."

I re-opened it because I think he CAN do it, but for now, let's just egg him on and watch and see.

50 mph...been done.
60 mph? We'll see.

I know Jim understands my point here probably better than anyone else here.

ANYONE can say "I'll go 60 mph."
Not just anyone can do it.

Do it and be a Performance King.

Say you are going to do it (ANYTHING) and fall short....could leave you crestfallen or looking like a smoke blower....I will tell all 18,000 members I know from personal experience, BEEN THERE, DONE THAT.

There is a lot at stake when a claim like this is made.

That's all I'm sayin'.

I'm glad this thread continues. There's lots of good information coming out in it.
One thing is bugging me.
What is an "HT" engine?
I'm kinda new at this. I tried a search and all I could find is "Happy Time". Is that it? How did that get started?

Also this thread reminds me of the MG slogan "Safety Fast".

Anyone else thought of doing something like this on a bicycle, not for use on the street of course?

Yes it's a 50cc supercharged Honda / Chinese cloned Lifan Horizontal 4-Stroke, on a Honda Dream 50!

JMO, I love reading about people who see a challenge and say I'm gonna do this, then let the nay sayer's see it happen in reality!

Jim / Dv, you can do it...http://www.moviewavs.com/0085412111/WAVS/Movies/Waterboy/youcandoitallnightlong.wav

Peace Crazy Horse.

I certainly do know what you mean Joe! These cliff hanger tales must follow though to see an ending that makes everyone happy. We're going to give it a try.

David it's funny you mentioned that...DV and I were talking about the death race the other day. He really wants to go. I was telling him we could probably ship the bike to you...and fly out for a few days of fun. Win or loose it would be fun to meet the guys from the forum!

Maybe next time.
