$2 front mount fix for cruiser frames

made it this morning out of a $2 hockey-puck and the stock mount in the BGF kit. engine is aligned and rock solid. FWIW Joe

It does not show well in the photo, but the steel adapter plate in the photo is modified. put it in a large vise and used a BFH and a block of wood to bend it lengthwise to match the angle of the down tube.

Hmmmm..... Use a hole saw to cut the hole in the puck for the frame tube. Use a hack saw to rough shape the outside of it. Finish the outside up with sandpaper.
This sounds doable to me.

That is simply a BRILLIANT idea. There is nothing better than using a common
item and convert it to such a unique application. I wish I had thought of that!
I spent many frustrating hours trying to figure out a way to rubber mount mine.
I tried all kinds of plumbing parts front end bushings etc., I have a bag of hockey pucks from years of coaching and never gave them a thought. I'm very
impressed. I'm gonna make one this week.

I used a forstner bit, I think a hole saw would bind and overheat in a flexible material. fwiw Joe

Good point. I have no Forstner bits, but I bet a spade (paddle) bit would work out too.

Joek, How many time have been in a hardware store looking for something that you will not use for its original purpose? Probably like me, often. Great adaptation, you get my vote for the 2009 MB Jerry-Rig Award
 
The hockey puck method will save me alot of blood, sweat, tears and time! Thanks for a good tip! Will put up a pic when I'm done, need another puck for mount number two!
 
Here is my version of your idea in a progress. I put longer rods on the block and then drilled and sawed a puck. This idea worked good for me trying to raise the motor on a V-frame due to clearance probs.

A hole saw will work if you keep the cut oiled. I used that method to cut some chunks of rubber to make engine mounts for a Rotax in my Avid Flyer. It tends to be a bit sloppy but a ring of aluminum foil around the rubber keeps most of the oil and rubber dust contained. I have forstner bits so I'll get a couple pucks and try that for my next bike conversion.

this is a very simple idea! i tried explaining something like this to a firend when he first did his motored bike over a year ago.. use some sort of damper! he has stacks of tubing for spacing lol

anyone every tried a sway bar mount for a car?? swaybar mounts are already round, and have a slot. im a mechanic and have seen many different sizes, rubber material etc..

Now that is a darn good idea! It would probably cost more that a hocky puck mod, but it would be ready to install right out of the box. Now if we only could get a listing of the part numbers listed by the various hole diameters. Anyone here know someone who works at an O-Riley's with alot of free time?
