Ive recently put together 2 motorized 66cc bikes, 1 for me, 1 for the gf. Theyre both chinese kits, and so far we've been running semi synthetic oil at 16:1 mix cause new engine break in. However, this is expensive at $10 a quart, even once i lean out the mixture. Im curious if i can get away using outboard motor oil, as its $13.34 a gallon at wal mart. I recognize that outboard engines are water cooled and run at lower temperatures than air cooled 2 strokes. Would a TC W3 oil, then, be too thin for air cooled engine?

I run Echo synthetic weed whacker oil at 50:1 (ran one tank of 'break-in at 32:1)...….for the last 5 years and lots of miles. Don't use the outboard oil.

On a chinese kit engine? They say use 20:1 ratio. Can you get away with 50:1?

Been running it for over 5 years now...….and it's not been 'babied'. It's a true 45mph machine that'll scream at WOT. It probably has close to 2000 miles on the motor. I use synthetic oil and premium grade gas, not the cheapest stuff I can find. Granted, it's one of the better Grubee Skyhawk motors.

BTW, some of the members are running Opti 1 at 100:1......

(Results may vary)

No mater which oil you use make sure it is for air cooled engines, they run hotter than a water cooled outboard.

This is what I've been using for years.... It works really well & is inexpensive! (only $12 per gallon)

I break in my engines using 32:1 for a few tanks & then switch to 40:1.
