There were a few motorized bicycles at the auction. This 1911 Dayton Motorwheel was mostly original, but someone had started painting - hurt the value a little:

The Miami behind it was completely re-finished. Sadly I ran out of memory cards before I got any good pics of it.

Auctions are a blast....I'm sure the Mechum was over the top. Thanks for pictures.Do you know what the Miami went for??

The 1911 Motorwheel brought $13,000

The 1916 Miami went for $14,000

For reference this unmolested 1911 Wagner 4-11 went for $40,000

People were paying more for original finishes, because there is a lot of sloppy restoration work out there - and once done it can be hard to undo.

Yep today's vechicle market is all about original...a few years back it was all about restored.
