Vintage bike I bought

Well I ended up buying one of the bikes that I posted earlier that was on Kijiji. It won't be until spring when I put an engine on it. I may have it tuned up before I do decide to ride it too.
I've read several posts about fenders being dangerous. Does it fall for old bikes like this too?
I'll have to do some adjusting for the rear sprocket to mount on the rim.
Other than that....the bike looks to be in good shape for the age.

Yes on the fenders. They will still try to kill ya. Lots of threads on securing them.
My method would really ruin the looks of that fine old bicycle.
 
I'm glad to see you went for it! It should serve you well as a MB.

As for the fenders you will have to beef up the mounts.
 
That's a great old touring bicycle. Nice shade of green too.

Listen to Dan about the fenders. My bike has them, but I can't honestly say I endorse them. (Notice it says "Resident Mad Scientist" up there. But I'm not completely crazy. I made sure the fenders weren't rusty when I restored my bike. I used a pair of fender braces on each wheel in addition to the front wheel having a bolt running through it into the bottom of the fork, and the rear wheel being bolted both to a cross-brace at the top of the seat stays and at the meeting of the chain stays to the bottom bracket. I upgraded all the bolts, and used high-end lock nuts, and put a curve in some fender washers and used them for added strength. And I made sure there was more than enough clearance.
And still, at the end of it all, I can't really say I recommend their use.
