Vanishing Hobby

Motorbikes were popular thru 1940 - 1965 but mopeds and scooters from Italy and Japan took over
Motorbikes made a comeback in 1998 with the next generation Whizzer Motorbike made in Taiwan
China came out with a copy of a Russian 2 stroke motorbike engine in kit form - Bolt on any bike
You average 16 year old boy wanted a motorbike or had a motorbike
From 1999 - 2015 I saw motorbikes all over the place and many motorbike clubs were formed
These motorbikes ruled up until 2015 then E Bikes hit the US streets

E bike is the main attraction now for the average 16 yr old boy in Ca. as they ride the 45mph Surron
All teenagers now have some kind of E bike

Motorbikes are once again only for those who love them and are willing to build them and work on them
Motorbike crowd is mainly guys over 50 yrs old

This is so ture, this forum was fun and good till the china engine come along. But just like lawn mowers nobody knows how to fix them, when they don't work the just by another. What gets me is the restritions on gas bikes, yet you can ride a electric all over the place, look at Canada, steep fines for gas bikes. Should not be because they are both motorized bikes.........Curt

Just part of the assault on liberty. Politicians are born to tell everyone else what to do even though most of them couldn't lead a group in silent prayer! As long as we allow them to jerk us around, nothing is going to change. I agree, Curt, about our cousins in Canada and the UK who live under Marxist tyranny and I fear the fix is gonna be messy. Maybe when Alberta pulls away they'll get the message.

Kind of funny all the years I grew up no go-karts, mini bikes, or motor bikes, without leagal equipment and license, then in 2014 I helped my son biold a wagon, and was testing it out in the street, cop come by and just waved and smiled.

This spring when colage was still going there were a lot of motorized bike riding, still see a few. neighbor kids are always running around with mine bike or something ............Curt

Cool ride there, Curt. Have you seen the cycle karts folks are building around wheelbarrels? They are shaped like the old bucket-Ts from high school. We threw a Ford 390 in one, but couldn't hold it together. Bailing wire and chewing gum aren't that strong.9

Since I live in British Columbia, we hear all about Alberta separating since they are the next province to us. Texas will be a Blue State before Alberta separates. First off, other than a handful of people, no one wants to leave. We have the Clarity Act that was put in place after Quebec voted to leave, twice. The Canadian Constitution would probably need to be amended to allow it. Then they would have to negotiate with the First Nations people who have strong tribal rights. Then they would need to settle up with the Canadian government for military bases and infrastructure owned by the government.

There if no Port of Calgary or Edmonton so every thing they need from Canada would have to cross Canada's borders with a large cost and border delays. If they join the U.S as a state. or open their borders to free trade they would still pay for shipping due to the geography. They would be way up North. Their Premier/Governor is, as they would say in Texas, all hat and no cattle. She's like a weather vane. Which ever way the political winds blow, she's pointed in that direction.

My favorite saying about politicians is that they aren't smart enough to get a one car funeral headed in the right direction. My family is/has been heavily involved in Canada's politics for generations. As one politician told me probably seventy years ago, people don't realize that every time the government is in session, the people lose a few more rights. Any government, all the time.

I hear ya, Steve. Wifey and I caught our ship for our honeymoon up the Canadian Intercoastal waterway from Vancouver. We thought it was one of the most beautiful cities we had ever visited. Had a great trip despite wifey getting vertigo on the boat!

I live near Vancouver and lived in Vancouver for years. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and your trip. Vertigo is nasty and when on a moving ship I can only imagine how she felt.
