Tight crank

I've had a China girl (brand new, only 10km on it) sitting in the shed all summer. I took it out to rebuild it (needed new rings and gaskets) and the crankshaft is really tight considering I haven't touched it or broken it... What's going on?

I used my spidercam to look inside the crankcase for debris and there is none. Everything is lubed nice too

Why do you think it needs rings? If you have a blown gasket I would just replace it and not worry about the rings.

Rings outlast cylinders. Unless installed incorrectly to begin with. I would agree w/ Greg. Something else to consider. Tight Crank---Check shaft key on the bevel gear and shaft key on Drive sprocket. If 1/2 moon shaped key is cocked up and binding against the seal/motor this will cause you to think the crank is tight.
