I believe the dremel rotates faster (30,000 rpm) so putting the cutting in your drill won't do much good.

I am with you but also have a Dremel for the realy small delicate work,and carving. I have burned one out and now have a variable speed Love IT.......Curt1/4 in die grinder cheap from 1992 and a cheap compressor will be your tools to do more than a dremel. They have served me well..........choose wisely grasshopper.
