Very cool engine, looks like you scored. Judging from the mounting, cylinder and carb locations, you'd be best trying to mount this like a moped engine. You know what might be cool? If you could flip this engine upside down by running the carb flipped, you could hang the engine (under and to the front of) the bottom bracket (crankset).

Good exhaust location as well.

Looks like a good choice for a motorbike, but the design of the engine should dictate how you mount it on the bike, not the other way 'round. Is it CCW rotation?

I don't know the rotation yet because I just won it on E-bay and now I'm waiting on getting it. I should be getting it sometime next week.

Them have a impuls pump carb like a chainsaw and can be runn at any angle, Do you have any idea what it come off? Some of the small snow blowers have on simular but are 3 Hp ..............Curt

No idea what it came off of and I think what was given as a model number is the wrong set of numbers. Yes I do believe it is an impuls pump carb on it so that will make life easier for how it can sit. I also thought about the pull start to tell which way it rotates after I got to work, so it does look to be a CCW rotation.

I am wondering what a safe oil mix will be since I don't have any info on it yet?

I have two of the snowblower engines and when I go up to the lake next time I will look and see what mix they say I think 40: 1 but will double heck...........Curt

ok, thanks....

Are they the same style engine in them and what else can you tell me about this type of Tecumseh? When do you think you will get up to the lake again?

At first glance I'd say it is a snowblower engine. I've seen and worked on a few of them, they're relatively small and they aren't self propelled. Designed for lighter snow that isn't too thick. I guess you could call them a power broom. Most of them have a plastic shroud/cover that goes over the motor. The gas tank and primer bulb(if equipped) are often apart of the plastic cover.

You might be able to look up the engine's modle number through the internet or through a repair shop to find out for certain. I hope this helps :)

Would there be any reason I couldn't put an intake on this engine that moves the carb to a different place/position to make mounting the engine easier?

Something like this...

Don't think so because there is read valves in the botom and feeds up through the crank case. Same as a lawn boy. Were the snow blower motor has a side port and the carb on the side. If you realy want on I could sell you one. I will send you pictures first then you can deside...................Curt

Isn't this where the reed valve is on these engines (Red arrow pointing at it)

yes it is and why move the carb it can be pointed in any direction

To get clearance on the back side of the engine for an air cleaner assembly and to clear the seat tube. These are only thoughts, but they could change as soon as I have the engine in front of me.

if it will run at any angle mabe point the carb at a upward angle in the frame or try it with the carb strait up?

Yes and two strokes don't do well with long intakes. You can put a long air cleaner tube on it and move it up.
I was going to use a lawnboy but couldn't figure out how except to run the carb stright down and hide it with a fack carb on the side. And lawn boys have a flote carb so would have to cahnge it also. Its just that lawn boy have the old tall cyclinder look moreso then the snowblower engine. I sort of gave up on the idea,a lot of lawn boys have coil problums and are coastly to replace..................Curt
