Starting to look like something

Waiting for some parts so I decided to take care of something that really bugged me. I started out with a Worksman frame, who's reputation for solidity seems mostly deserved, but the rear frame dropouts were alarmingly flimsy. I welded on a pair of quarter inch steel plates.

Here's a pic of the tank ready to go out for welding. You've seen my steel welding. I'm not about to attempt aluminum. ;)

Thanks! I'll have to judge how much work it will take to polish it. Otherwise it will be paint. :)

Playing around with the motor position. Looks like it's a good fit!

Working on the bottom bracket / quill shaft. Here's the parts list:

Shell: 2-1/2" conduit coupler (not shown)
2 x 2-1/2 bushings- As cool as the big nuts look, they will be cut off for clearance.
40mm tube
2 x outer bearings
2 x inner bearings
4 x 16mm shaft collars
1 40mm shaft collar
16mm shaft
some plastic spacers
2 x 40mm sprockets (already tacked)
1 flat washer (already welded to 40mm tube)
some shim material
2 sets of cottered cranks- One will be sacrificed for the sprocket.

Zoom lens ;)

It's a Lifan 162FMJ (150cc).

My goal is to at least keep up with traffic on secondary roads. That mean's 50mph. Of course I'll have to muddle through the title and registration process.

Got the tank back from the welder. Prittee good.

Das Boot is almost ready for sea trials

I've worked my way up to 1000 grit. I like that I can still see the ID number from the oxygen bottle. :)

Thank you!

The transition that take place between the final sanding and buffing are amazing!

Ok so one day a Rep. from Rolls Royce is taking a tour of the Brough Superior shop and sees them wearing white gloves as there mounting newly polished tanks and decides to give them Rolls Royce's endorsement. First and only time they gave an endorsement. ......Maybe you should give them a call.
