i i recently saw somebody riding a motorized bike and got bit by the bug. i was given a donor bicycle from a friend and now all i need is an engine. im a big guy 235lbs and i will be riding some short but steep hills. im hoping to find some info on the ideal setup; battery vs gas? 2stroke vs 4stroke? displacement size? etc.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of motorized bicycle enthusiasts here. I'm a "big guy" also. I have the 70cc center frame mount Chinese motor with a 44 tooth rear sprocket. I have no problem pulling hills. Glad you joined us........................

Batt vs Gas
E-bike's cost more, they are more heavy, limited range, little maintenence

Gas: cost less, lighter, excellent in range, more maintenence

2-stroke, lighter, look's more like a motorcycle motor, must mix fuel & oil, more maintenece, cheaper then 4-stroke

4-stroke, no mixing of oil, with good maintenece should out-last 2-stroke, heavier, cost more.

This is just a few thing's, more member's should add thier two cents

Yes, but with a two stroke, you have no oil changes!

I would vote gas any day of the week no matter what stroke it is.
