Hey I am totally new to motorized bikes but I am already in love with them. I used to have ideas for this kikker motor that I had, but a friend of mine said it wouldn't be safe. So I looked into bikes using weed wacker, and other kinds of small motors. because there is no clutch on a weed wacker or lawn mower engine is it efficient to just kill the motor when I need to come to a stop? Another question is if I don't install a clutch or kill the power how fast will the bike move if I don't touch the throttle?

i don't have a friction drive, but I read that having a clutch reduces tire wear. Many weed eaters actually do have a centrifugal clutch.

I you are going to use the run of the mill weed eater engine ditch the clutch for a direct drive roller, then make a lift clutch for starting and idling at stops. Makes a much more usable bike than a full time drive. The FD kits like DAX etc. have a cent. clutch and are very nice to use.
