Hi...New on here. Before I joined I read a post about frame length for a board track frame. The OP said that he lengthened his to I believe 55 inches axle to axle. I'm getting ready to finally build one (70 yrs old...About time). I cut my frame and added what I needed to achieve that but it looks way too long..(26"bike). Is that the normal length for these? I will be using a Predator motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks..

Welcome to the forum. Here is one link to the subject that was here on the forum in 2020. You are within the length of the originals. They look off size usually until you get the engine and gas tank ect added. Others here who have build these bike will add their knowledge as well.

Steve.

Thanks guys..Just getting things moving now. Back in the day I built and worked on motorcycles . These frames are a little different so I want to do it right. I was planning on using the Predator 212 motor but may switch to the smaller 79cc motor. Plan on doing a top fin attachment to get the vintage look. The main thing I see different on the 79cc motor is the oil filler. It would be on the bottom of the motor. Don't like that much'but I'm sure someone has a work around, I'll post pics when I get started....Thanks for the info...

I went snooping around the member map and couldn't find you in the lower 48.
" Back in the day I built and worked on motorcycles"
Been there done that.
A 212cc will do much more than a 79cc. But.
All things as well you know need to be scaled up.
DOM 4140 tubing of at least 3mm- .125" tubing is needed. Have you ever fabricated a bicycle or motorcycle frame before? Just trying to establish a baseline for discussions.

Hi Tom..I've built several motorcycle frames in the good old days...First bicycle based replica..Thought I use a bike frame for my first,Maybe build one from scratch next time if this one turns out and I can find all the parts to my jig...Bought the Harbor Freight 212 motor and have that broken down. Looks like I need a few extra things to get it set up. Time to make a list... Have a bike frame laying around and thought about using that, but for now it's just gonna be my guinea pig. Did a little cutting on it to get an idea on what I need to do....Got my fingers crossed..

Great link Curt to Kirk's Excalibur! This may be the best thread for mojo's planned build to study.

I ask this of every new forumite. What is your given name? We take kindly to folks who are completely transparent as best they can. Amongst the old pharts, there is a kind of party line phone connection. Once you get used to it.

Hi Curt..That's what I'm planning. Hope to get started in the next few days. Got some metal plate today to cut out some flanges for the intake. Be posting some pics when I gather a few more things....Boy metal has gone up....

Getting ready to start on the bike in the next week or so. Been gathering up stuff so I don.t have to go looking half way thru the project. One thing I'd like to know is how to put a patina on the motor? I'd like to do that before getting started. I'm sure someone here has a process.....

Well Dave, you got us old boy's revved up for a exciting build. Don't let us down. Pitchers, lots of pitchers.
Images of your work space, tools, tool boxes, work stand. Snoop thru Steve's Fast Eddy and Silver Bear threads. There is lots more. Let Curt tell you where to go, you won't regret it.
