Pirate Cycles

I would like to say I am very impressed with Pirate cycles. I ordered a sprocket and adapter while they where doing their inventory. Friday I was surprised to see that it was being shipped priority. Today I checked my shipping status and its out for delivery. I look forward to purchasing from them again. I just wished they stocks 4 stroke parts.:(

i realy like pirate cycles pleasure dealing with them, have bought the pk 80 silver motor with upgraded hardware and the sprocket adapter for two of my builds.

I only ever bought one thing from Pirate, two years ago or so. It was a CDI. Reasonable price, fast shipping. I got it like two days after I ordered. I haven't needed any parts they stock since then, otherwise I would definitely order from them. I think they do great business and wish more suppliers would take a page out of their book.

I've bought several sprocket/hub adapters for my builds from Pirate Cycles and I'm a very happy customer both with the product and fast shipping.

My first experience with Pirate Cycles (today 5-19-12) was terrible.
I will take the blame for assuming.
I payed $50 for a wide cranks and it did not come with the Wide Crank Conversion Kit (bearing carriers and bearings).
I could have got BOTH from at least 2 other vender's for the same price ($50).
Now I will order the Wide Crank Conversion Kit from from another vendor ($19).
No returns.
I will never use Pirate Cycles again.
Hope they enjoy the extra $20 because it won't happen again.

I just wanted to order a clutch kit but its not in stock and the number on the website out of service. Not very good for trusting someone I dont know to send my money. Does anybody have another phone number?

Is pirate cycles on this forum? I've tried emailing them, I'm approaching week four of my wait for shipment. Not impressed with not hearing from them, but my payment was processed quickly, good for them I guess.

...be persistent with your phone calling, and make your calls after 3:00, that seems to be the best time to reach them. ...and don't just call once after 3 and call it done, call every 15 minutes until someone picks up the phone, lol.

...Justin runs another full time business so he is only around sporadically and usually in the afternoon, ...and Justin is definitely the guy you want to talk to, Matt's an ok guy in person but on the phone he speaks in single syllables, IF he even answers the phone, mostly he just wrench's all day i guess.

...don't give up, they're not thieves it's just that their customer service sucks, they do decent work and the products they sell are solid, it's too bad you don't live close enough to go to the shop.

peace, bozo

Thanks for the words of encouragement!!. I emailed once and got an automated sort of email telling me that it would ship in 4-7 days due to waiting on sprocket to arrive. I've emailed once again after the 11 days after the 4-7 days notification. I tried to call this evening, but no answer and voicemail was full. I will keep calling once I get back home. The wheel, adapter, and sprocket seem to be quality, but I tend to become impatient when I get nothing back from them. I if I have to wait more days, not a biggie. But just want to know!

Fingers crossed and number saved in contacts!

I kind of figured some of these sites proprietors have other jobs/businesses. I try to be pretty forgiving but there is a limit to my patience. For the most part I'm just glad there's someone interested enough to offer products for some of these not so prime time interests such as motorized bicycles.

Well, I have gotten more response and plausible delays from this forum than I have from the proprietors of pirate cycles. I have called and emailed repeatedly. And no reply, no excuse for that. Especially since there have been 4 weeks worth of opportunities.
