I did hear from Pete a while ago, Tom. He went to the local pub for a live music night July 2023 and met a lady and as he said they have been inseparable ever since. They were spending time at his place in Spain. That was in the spring I think and I haven't heard anything since.

He said he hadn't touched a bike in a long time other than the occasional ride. He did mention taking a bike to Spain to ride.

Steve.

I found the last email he sent me. Here it is.

Good to hear from you Steve. Your insulated garage door project sounds like a worthwhile use of time and expense in your part of the world! Can't say we've had much of a winter here in Northumberland this time round. I can only recall one day of snowfall - and Joyce and I missed that 'cause we were enjoying another break to my place in Spain. Family sent us photographs as proof it had snowed. Still not done any bike related work other than keeping them dusted. My Saab 96 is due to venture out of Joyce's garage for the first time since laying it up for the 'winter'. It'll become my daily driver once again come April. Speaking of garages, Joyce and I are serious enough to be making future plans to move in together. (I'm nuts about her and I get the sense she feels likewise). Her house is on the market and we are looking at an under-construction new build here in Alnwick which features a double underbuilt garage - more than enough space for the bikes and for the 2CV-based kit car I have most of the bits stashed here for. We're jetting off to my place in Spain for 3 weeks next Monday. After not using the place for almost 9 years during wife Jen's illness, Joyce and I are enjoying putting it back into regular vacation use. One of these days, I'll get round to shipping a couple of my bikes over there. Perfect cycling country.
Hoping to see some curry-painted tri-car components in the not too distant future. Really confident that colour will look superb on the project.

Just heard this morning from Pete McP. I'll leave it here.

Hey Steve, great to hear from you. Not so great to hear Pesky Art is causing you grief again. Hang in there until warmer weather hopefully brings you a sense of relief. Life here is continuing in the same vein as I mentioned in my last message. My relationship with new partner Joyce continues to flourish and we're extremely happy. Joyce recently sold her house here in Alnwick and has temporarily moved in with me until the new-build house we're moving into is completed. The scheduled completion date keeps moving further backwards - originally it was estimated to be July/August - but now it's December, so fingers crossed we're in and settled in time for Christmas. My apartment here is packed to the rafters with new furniture, fixtures and fittings for the new house, which, along with my seven bikes, means things are crowded to say the least. The good news is our new place has a double under-build garage, pics attached, so I hope to have space and time to get back to working on my builds. And maybe even posting some overdue updates on the forum. In fact I only just recently resumed work on my ACE vintage tribute which now has a front mudguard installed. First time I've been 'on the tools' in what seems like forever! I love that little 125 and would ideally like to have her finished and rideable come next summer. In closing, I have to say the upturn in my life courtesy of meeting Joyce has brought about a joie de vivre I would never have expected or deserved following Jen's passing. May we wish you and the other forum pals season's greetings.
