I agree with him.I do autobody and there isn't much way around it.

Next time around, I'll give it a shot. I guess the reason why I've never tried it, is becuase I don't usually use clear. I've started to use it more since I've gotten away from the solid flat or no gloss paint.

I've been having good luck with BBQ paint...

I have been painting cars for 40yrs. I have drank, ate, wore, paint all my life and never thought of BBQing paint. That just might take that nasty taste away.

another trick if you like a natural look is use a bonding clear "BullDog" being the cheapest and easyest to find,at-AutoZone-, Sand the metal and use the bonding clear, very thin coat, then clear coat. You can use this in many ways. You could paint the head black then sand the fins leaving just the edges exposed like many harleys do, the options are endless. The main thing with any painting is get it clean and oil free. Also must be over 65 degrees to paint.

Don't spray paint too thick or wet and your edges won't be so raised. Wet sand and clear w/ work too.
