Norm shortening a throttle cable

I use solder wick and a soldering station to make the ends .
I wrap the solder wick around the end and solder evenly for a smooth appearance. I never thought about using wire and a flame thrower.
 
very useful info.now I can make a throttle cable with any length cable housing I want.Thanks Master Vader.I have been wondering the best way to do this.
