Hey all,
So yesterday I went and picked up a motorized bike to get me around town here and there. All I know about it is that the frame says "boxer" it's got some pretty intense fully adjustable suspension front and rear, hydraulic disc breaks and the motor cover reads "Morini Franco Motori" this thing seems pretty intense for a petal bike with a motor on it. the previous owner didnt tell me much but the craigslist ad noted it was modded in some ways. This bike screws!! I know absolutely nothing about motorized bikes, but raced motocross for some time but I can't figure out what engine this is and if it's a 50 or maybe an 80? It will get me up to 55mph (via street speed limit readout sign) in no time, this thing moves I was really surprised. How do I tell what motor this is so when the time comes to rebuild the top end i know what to order. Any additional information about this bike would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
-Tony

Your bike was made by Pipelyne in San Jose, CA.

Your motor is a 50cc Morini.

Here is Easy Riders Boxer at a Socal Motor Bicycle Racing event on March 28th.

The Boxers were made with 6 hp and 9 hp 50 cc Morinis.
Sorry I don't know which one yours is.
Easy Rider or others here can help you figure that out.

How much did you pay for yours?

I paid for 700 for the entire bike as you see it in the pictures, I really didn't and don't know what these bikes are worth as far as if I got a good deal or not, but I thought it was a cool little bike!! I've been reading and it looks like morini motors do not manufacture anymore? Is there a company that has parts that will work for this motor? for example, if I need to re do the top end or clutch, how do I buy replacement parts?

i had one for a while, wished i kept, it was a really nice bike to ride around. You got a decent price if its not to beat up.
look up morini franco usa or something like that, they had rebuild kits and other misc stuff. Stock clutch is crap, most people upgrade it but i would ask easy rider for advice

I can't find a scratch on this thing! Hopefully easy rider sees this post and can give some insight! Here's some more pictures with it mounted on my truck!

Nice find Tony, from the looks of the kick starter, it's a 9 hp motor. if you plan on cruising around town, the stock 3 shoe will work find but if you go alot in the dirt, buy a LM tomar clutch. That bike doesn't look familiar because of the rims and that big tank is a plus on long rides. For $700, you got a killer deal because I think you got the Fusion suspension and that alone was over $700. Did you front forks come with a lock out button?
Here's the place I buy my parts.

Have fun with your Boxer,

Ken

If you get a chance, post a pic of your forks and rear shock.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking this must be the beefed up motor version because it really pulls once you get in that power band. It does have XFusion suspension fully adjustable! The previous owner had modified a larger tank set up as you see in the pictures, it's actually a tank off a small dirt bike. I would love to have this all set for the woods riding off road, not sure what clutch is in this, I'll have to take a look and report back, in the mean time, here are pics of the suspension:

Where do I find a LM tomar clutch? I went to morini website and they have something called a high performance clutch, is that what I'm looking for? I'm also assuming I have an S6S engine?

Hey Tony, I see you made it over here OK and getting help.
That was a bargain for the bike but just a tip...

Take pictures bigger than thumbnails, we like big pictures bud ;-}

The pics make me sad... SOOO small. DUDE! U just got what was once the Holy Grail or close to, of motorized bikes for 1/2 a song. Well Done!

Hey Tony,
If you ever decide you want to sell your Boxer, I'ld be glad to pay you what you originally paid for it.
BTW: I'm fairly sure that your motor is the Morini Franco Motori model S6-T, and not the S6-GS. The difference is in the porting, ignition, clutch, and carburation. If I'm not mistaken the T model is the 6HP model, whereas the GS is 9HP. The T has the Grey colored head, and 19mm carb, and the GS has a black head, and 21mm carb. These are great motors that were used by a bunch of European cycle makers, and now they are being used by the American motorized mountain bike makers. The Achilles heal of these motors seems to be the stator, and or coil. They have a tendency to get hot, and fail. I would suggest some sort of ventilation to the stator cover to assuage the problem.

You know Daddy-O; sometimes you just gotta peel out.

Yeaaaa, ... im frEEkin jealous dude. That is the bike i dream of, the bike that makes my bike look like it still has its training wheels on . To say you know nothing about this bike, that you need something to get you around town, that you found this on craigslist,... You know all those good deeds you've done in your life sir, well they just paid off. Congrats and dont kill yourself (or the bike)laff
