Jim's Billet head: help?

I have a billet head from jim and just upgraded my engine studs so they dont strip when i get proper torque on them. I need a bit of help tho.

I am not very mechanically inclined and no one locally will help me out something about the "china" part of the motor scares them. I bought a head gasket from sbp and i remember reading a post from jim saying the head gasket has to "snap" into place (cant find it now), where is it to snap? the lip on the head? it seems as tho my head gasket has too small an opening for that, is there a trick to it?

any tips would really help.

I appreciate everything this site has to offer, i have learned lots. (just an FYI)

Hi my name is Dylan and i work at jims shop.

what was ment was that the gasket slips on the jug(cylinder wall) theres a lip thats on top and it kinda slips or snaped or top or . some dont you just need to carefully put them together and make sure everthing lines up.

Fizzbane,

Yes the gasket should should fit over the lip on the head. If the gasket that you have doesn't fit, I would order one from Pirate cycles. I used the head gasket, (diameter measurement), from the PK80 and the Grubee GT-5 engines to create the lip.

If the gasket doesn't snap into place, it's O.K...just make sure that the gasket is centered around the lip and flush with the head before you tighten it.

i ended up filing the head gasket down and sanding it smooth to the approx size needed. it isnt a perfect circle anymore but it should get the job done. i hope that works out all right. it doesnt "snap" but it fits tightly around the entire lip of the head.

thanks

I tested it with 93 octane, and an NGK "7" heat range plug...no problems.

You don't want detonantion...I honestly don't know whether or not it will detonate on 91 octane.

If you can't get 93 octane, you may need to add some octane boost to make up for the difference.
